DESCRIPTION:
A Hydraulic Needle Cannon, capable of multiple functions. This weapon uses no ammunition, but it is far much heavier than most other weapons in the BW arsenal.

Primary Fire:
Launches a wire-towed needle in front of the wielder when pressed once. Once the needle latches onto a target, pressing the Primary Fire again will cause the wire to retract, pulling either the wielder or the target closer to each other. The Primary Fire must be held to fully retract the wire.

Secondary Fire:
Launches a wire-towed needle behind the wielder when pressed once. Pressing twice will retract the wire immediately. This is usually used in-conjunction with the Primary Fire to accomplish certain tasks:

-To make a wire-line from one place to another to cross a huge obstacle (such as a gap or barrier).

-To tow-in vehicles (by attaching one needle to the vehicle and the other to a stable area, such as the ground).

Reload:
Automatically retracts any wire that has been launched.

Fire-Mode:
Runs a high-voltage current through the front tow-wire and needle - capable of shocking enemies and immobilizing vehicles. The HNC can only fire short bursts of this current and must be recharged after each activation, so it must be used only when necessary.

Special Fire:
Fires a melee-ranged, hydro-accelerated spike that can penetrate armor and puncture vital organs, immediately terminating the victim. It takes quite a while for the spike to reset, so it must be used sparingly. It can also be used to elevate the wielder by firing the spike at the ground (Hydro-Spike Jumping).

Iron Sights:
Activates an analog scope. Has limited distance. It also has a rear-view finder, great for targeting objects behind you.

TAKE NOTE:
The Tow-Wire can be cut by bladed weapons, so be careful about deploying it when blade-wielding enemies are nearby.

Deploy-Drop Special:
In the case that the wielder either: a) get killed or b) drops the weapon - while both needles are latched onto something, the HNC will still hold until somebody: a) destroys the weapon by cutting the wires or b) picks the HNC up and reloads it back to its default state (much like how deployed Machine Guns can be retrieved). This can be used to strategically leave the HNC to its devices so that the original user can wield other weapons or move away unharmed.

While I didn't mention much about how to use this weapon aside from the gap-bridging and vehicle-towing, I guess you guys can imagine the other things this can be used for... right...? ;)

Sweetness! This will be unique for one thing!

*imagines a Leviathan towing a Goliath with the HNC wielder in between*

Added one more thing to make this weapon balanced...

Should each cable have a life bar? And can only be repaired when you pick up an ammo pack?

Sounds crazy, but good non-the-less.

Actually, you could use this gadget to air-lift vehicles over lava and other hazardous terrain.

1) Get yourself a friend, a HNC, a Hellbender, SPMA or Scorpion, and an aircraft of some description (in this case a Cicada).

2) Fire the rear cable into the Cicada's underside, and the front cable into the Hellbender, so you are now looking down and can observe the terrain.

3) Have your friend take off and fly you to the LZ.

4) Disconnect from both vehicles once landed and continue the mission.

5) For larger vehicles, more aircraft may be needed, like 2 Cicadas or 4 Raptors to lift a tank.

You could use a similar technique to air lift the flag, or an assault team to overpower a Node.

If that could work, that would be awesome, your own personal airlifting device. I'd love to see 4 raptors or even 2 airlifting a tank.

But what happens if the wielder is shot? The object being carried would drop, unless a deploy code was implemented ie when both cables are extended, you can hit Use and the HNC would stay there, and the cables take up the slack when you got in the carrier aircraft and took off.

That way you could ship a Hellbender out to the retreating flag team, so they could hop in and drive off, or you fly off again with them in the jeep, then if you die they can just drop down and drive, although the HNC would fall away and become a pickup.

Hmm... sounds interesting...

Any backstory?

Sounds like it could've had lots of field construction uses; constructing suspension bridges, lighter lifting tasks, safety lines, temporary suspension support, etc.

Sounds like a tool developed by/for field technitions.

Plus the ability to defend somewhat would make it pretty good for field work, though its bulkiness could prevent it from being used efficiently by anyone other than specialized units.

I love it. 8)

I guess I'll leave the story out for now... Not really sure if this will get implemented onto BW someday, are we?

Improved Iron Sights and added Deploy-Drop mechanism for added functionality.

Could work... But I was originally thinking, once the wires are cut, the weapon is destroyed for good (much like the Scorpion's side-blades) except for its Hydraulic Spike.

Maybe, high-tension steel cable isn't the easiest thing to replace...

This seems like it would be a very fun weapon to play with. !lol

How about the ability to electrically power the wires with a key like reload? That would improve its usefulness against targets and maybe even give the ability to heal power nodes. :)

Nothing feels better than having a massive electrical wire shoved through your chest. :p

Point well taken. :)

This sounds like it'd be a great and versatile tool. 8)

Hey, if you could sponsor this... that would be so cool. I'd finally have my BW grapple hook!

That may not be a bad idea, though it could be costly due to the nature of the weapon, but let's refine it 1st, get some concept art up and all that jazz.

Hey... Never thought about that one... Adding it now... albeit toned-down for balance.

Anyhoo... now I can imagine TONS of things to do with the HNC!!! Here's to name a few:

-Spear an enemy with the front needle, shock him, pull him in, and then stab him with the Hydro-Spike when he's close enough... FATALITY!!!

-Get on a higher ground, spear the ground with the hind needle, spear an enemy vehicle with the front needle, shock it, reel it in until its hanging from the ground, and then reload to release... CRASH AND BURN!!!

-Spear the ground with the hind needle, spear an enemy aircraft with the front needle, shock it, and then reel it in until its brought to the ground or it hits an obstacle between you and the aircraft... Great for bringing down annoying Raptors and Cicadas.

-Get on a higher ground, spear the ground with the hind needle, and then jump off a cliff... BUNGIE!!!

Scorpion speared Xan in the face for a fatality.

Or spear an enemy to his team's own vehicle, like a flying craft for example... and just let him dangle there. :D

Oh yeah, forgot to mention: the needle damages the enemy depending on how much the wire is pulled. The most damage occurs when the enemy is suspended by the wire (since he's literally hanging by his flesh), so it won't be long 'til you see a lifeless corpse hanging in mid-air.

Allow the user of the cannon to hit E when both sides have been used, and then it'll let you leave the thing and be a grapple line that only can reaccessed when someone enters it again, like a mounted gun. but far worse.

I already did that... read the Deploy-Drop mechanism more carefully...
