The BOGL is doing fairly well in the poll, so presumably it will be added at some point... I don't know what the current plans are, if any, but here's some suggestions: Make it double barreled (over & under)! The top barrel shoots grenades, and the lower one something else, for example incendiary flares or magnum XXL buckshot. The latter can be used as a last line of defense or for finishing off wounded enemies. Both ammo types are included in pickups. Prim = nade, alt = [whatever]. You could even have multiple ammo types for the top barrel (explosive, flare, gas?) that could be selected via Special (determines which one will be used next time you reload). All of them would be part of the pickup package, for example 3 explosive, 1 flare & 1 gas. The second barrel would be the shotgun (single shot). The gun's main advantages would be power and versatility, its main disadvantages low ammo capacity & relatively long reload times. |

I think it would be best to simply have it a single barreled, you just switch to another gun if the enemy survived. |

Switching costs time, certainly in Ballistic... That extra shot could literally mean the difference between life & death.
Also it would be a welcome 'twist' to an otherwise fairly unremarkable weapon. If you're gonna give up a (precious, lol) weapon slot for this thing, it better have some kind of special feature (like an altfire flare or mega buckshot) that gives it an edge in certain situations. Otherwise might as well use the M50's GL for short-medium range, and the G5 for medium-long range. |

maybe.. we can give the secondary the ability to fire the hand grenades?? we havnt really figured out secondary yet.. |

Fire hand grenades? You mean the pineapples? That would be... weird. :blink: 2 barrels, 2 unique functions = twice the fun! Prim = shrapnel grenades that explode upon impact, alt = killer flares, Special = timed grenades. Simple, efficient, and even realistic. And very cool to use, word!

What about making you able to swing the grenade launcher to deal the last points of damage needed to kill? It should deal quite a bit of damage since that thing is heavy. :S |

Yeah, might work if you're real close... But otherwise I'd definitely prefer a ranged attack. A grenade / mega buckshot (elephant shot, lol) combo would make the GL a kind of real world flak cannon. Grenade + flares would make it a sort of primitive GL / rocket launcher hybrid. Both grenades and rockets (flares) have unique properties that can complement each other. Having both in a single gun could be very useful. Also, there already was some talk of adding a flare pistol, so why not do the sensible thing and add it to the BOGL? It's the same basic design after all, and 1 versatile gun is better than 2 relatively limited ones. I rest my case... for now! :lol: |

Adding flares into the BOGL is a great idea, but I still think it would lose it's unique-ness if there was added a buckshot attack. :S If you want quick weapon switching, isn't it quick to throw the BOGL the second you fire a grenade? Then when you have finished the enemy off you can pick up the BOGL if you are quick enough. |

That is a good feature, double barreled grenade launcher, you could have two different grenade types for each barrel.

most grenades fired by single shot gls have a fuse thats activated only after the grenade has spun a certain amount of times, due to the bore in the launcher...im pretty sure they dont arm inside 15-20ft or so. so maybe it could not explode if you shot someone at close range but do a heck of a lot of damage, and maybe explode later if hit by a bullet or something. if you tamper with the fuse you can make it so it explodes almost instantaniously and it makes a flak cannon/incindiary effect which resembles a shotgun blast....at great risk to yourself though other than that you could have impact or timed bouncing grenades Post edited by: Rayne870, at: 2006/05/24 03:55 |

Yeah, selectable... 2 barrels (over & under). One shoots flares, the other grenades. The grenades' fuses can be manipulated with the Special key / reload / whatever so they'll either explode on impact, after an x number of secs, or immediately so you get a shrapnel shot. That would be my ideal BOGL.

And make the flares burn for a pretty long time. No, I'm not asking for yet another setting to be added, put a hardcoded number on the lifetime of the flare.

I would think these flares should include magnesium as burning material, it becomes extremely bright when burning. |

One thing I remember from an old PS1 game (Vigilante was a rocket that stuck to the enemy while firing it's booster, causing the enemy to be shoved around until the fuel ran out...would that be a suitable anti-vehicle grenade?
Or alternatively a thermal cutter cartridge that welds itself to the vehicles armour and does damage over time as it melts the armour and hul into molten slag Last idea is a 'bouncing betty' grenade. imagine a flak shell that hits the floor and bounces up before detonating, focusing all the shrapnel in a cone towards the surface it hit...great anti personnel grenade
