Time to introduce some human energy weapons. Background: after the Electrolux company went bankrupt in the year of (insert a date here) since nobody wanted to buy their extremely expensive, hi-tech vacuum cleaners and hair-driers, it was bought by Zygmunt Smirnow, a rich technocrate looking forward to developing new generation of weapons. After some examples of Skrith Weaponry got into Smirnoff's hands, he took the decision to initiate human energy weapon development project. Four years later, the first models appeared: "Jenny" XJ-9 Laser Rifle & "Johnny" MJ-9 Laser Pistol. They had a really bizarre design and heated up terribly, and the power consumption was extremely high. Nevertheless, they proved to be very useful at long range. Specifics: bizarre, bulky, wasteful, yet more devastating as compared to the Skrith guns. I just found these pics on the net and rolled on the floor laughing. Just imagine such a toy in BW It would be my favourite second to the "orky" flamethrower.
Here are the pics: MJ-9 JOHNNY

I see the top one was made from an electric mixer. Looks pretty sweet.
I really love the look of the bottom one though, that looks like something dangerous. And mean. Both of them got that nice retro 50's sci-fi look. I love it!
Where are these from anyways? |

ARGH! Vacuum cleaner of doom! Though I like the idea of a deployable laser cannon, could make for the first heavy Skirth weapon... |

Heavy skrith weapons that need to be placed on ground just like Machineguns and the Minigun... Thats excactly what we need! A Skrith energy tri-barreled machinegun! |

Don't the skrith prefer stealth? I don't think a big gun placed on the ground helps them with that preference. |

These seem plenty Earth based to me... I don't think things such as these would look the style of a Skrith weapon, they look more like some sort of weapons to an extravegent and highly paid merc group. Flashy and stylish.

Those are meant to be Monty Python styled human parodies of Skrith guns. EDIT: Just thought that the one made from a vacuum cleaner could be a gun that spawns a tornado right from the barrel. After catching someone with the tornado, you can just toss him in the air until he's dead. |

All armies need some kind of anti-armour weapon. |

You obviously need to read one of SB's post that describes the skrith. |

Not rly... But what if skrith have to defend an important outpost, with hords of Curse dudes rushing at them? They will need a big fastfiring strong energy gun. |

There is gonna be a skrith sniper rifle to my knowledge, which will take out big targets. The turrets could just be a part of the outpost, but adding it to the main arsenal seems a little too much. |

If I'm not mistaken, didn't humans start out with energy weapons during the first Skrith war and only switch back to ballistics because that was the only thing effective against Skrith armor? Other than that, I love these guns! Sorta reminds me of the phasers from the Enterprise series, nice and bulky.
Is that a laser in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?

I do think it would be nice to have a light plastic assault carbine or submachinegun that uses laser tech, and a heavy weapon as per my comment in the mass driver weapon thread. A little laser pistol would round it out. I'd figure the lighter weapons would be characterized by light plastic or ceramic materials, minimal to no recoil, and a serious overheating problem, maybe melts the gun, burns the user, or explodes at critical mass. I'd envision the heavy weapon as being backpacked based with a heavy reactor, and thus terribly encumbring to the wielder. Again see my comment on suggested concept revision in the mass driver thread. And please, restrict lasers to beams. Energy bolts would be more characteristic of other flavors or tech, such as the skrith plasma weaponry. |
