+_+ a pitfall making kit would be a pretty useful 'weapon'. like you choose a spot on the level where there is soft ground and you can dig a pit there then put in spikes, mines, c4, cow turd, etc. or just don't put anything. then cover up the pit with like grass, dirt, etc. if you don't put anything in there then your opponent might be trapped there for the entire length of the match if it is deep enough. or you can just go a safe distance from the pit (hey, just because he/she is in a pit doesn't mean he/she doesn't have a 'little' friend that he/she would like you to meet) and chuck in explosive devices, grenades, etc and blow that mother****er to kingdom come and watch his innards fly @_@!!! -_- chucking in the explosives would be pretty sadistic since you can choose when you want it to blow up (if the laser isnt active ofcourse). |

im not saying this would be easy to make since it would involve altering the level's ground and stuff just like that support cannon thing in the Remote Strike mutator. and i wonder how you would get out of the pit if you dig too far... maybe instead of a kit with a shovel you can just place some dynamite in the ground, run the shit away from it, and repeat if you want it deeper... except that wouldnt be very stealthy for laying a trap... |

and how long would it take for one person to make a pit? this doesn't sound BW'ish................ try not to to double post, you have done it like a million times lol, use the friggen edit button!!!!! (i would expect Bjossi to have told you that since he is a moderator in all.....) |

it would be 5 seconds to dig a pit with the dynamite and about 15 with a shovel maybe a jackhammershovel...
+_+ editing would make my post look huge

The same text with two sigs instead of one is even more huge no matter how you slice it, 'specially since you could kill a bit of whitespace with only one post. More to the point, I agree that digging a pit in no time flat isn't BW-ish. It'd be waaaaaay more practical to just drop a landmine. It gives me an idea for enhancing the mines, though; take a little more time to bury it and cover it over. The mine would instead be flat and look like a smear of dirt; the only problem is, like your pitfall idea, it would be totally screwy on metal ground- especially thin see-through catwalk. Edit: I really like the idea of trapping a poor bot out of play, though putting it in a match with real people would just be wrong. If you can disable suicide, have a "stasis mine" as a new weapon... I'm pretty sure any server not disabling it would be barren, though. Post edited by: Spiced Hammer, at: 2006/05/13 10:59 |

I think what would be more BW-ish is a weapon developed by the skrith, that can create an multi-dimensional emptyness. So the device generates a hole in another dimension but it appears in this dimension as well. Pretty complex, but I think it is better than using a shovel.

You mean like a pocket plane? That's some spiffy technology, I wonder what they're doing with such primitive guns and defenses.
IMO a player-freezing mine would be much less high tech than a "hole in me pocket" that can just be deployed like in Yellow Submarine. At least we have some idea as to how a freezing mine would work; it's got a big clamp and maybe drugs the victim to keep it quiet. Oh, crap. I just had an idea: bear traps! Instead of just dealing damage, they slow the victim down. Yay or nay? Post edited by: Spiced Hammer, at: 2006/05/13 22:33 |

I'm sure soldiers can still drag themselves along if they don't die from hemmhoraging. Even if the trap's firmly anchored, you can still use a weapon to detach it. I know there's about zero chance some one's gonna implement player mutilation and totally new crawling animations in a mod, but for gameplay purposes just slowing them down should be good enough. |

lol. having a crawling animation that shows a player's leg is missing and is still clamped inside the trap would be weird. |

this is pretty insane!! such a thing could be very unpleasant to do.. and have some bad ramifications for the levels.. |

Reminds me of Monster Hunter... Sounds awesome. Don't look up Monster Hunter like I suggested in another topic, it's a totally different type of game. |
