The S4 'Blue Burner' Energy Grenade (or S4EG) is a great way to explode the crap out of the guy fallowing and or in front of you.

The Skrith along with a Cryon bio-engineer, created a blue (skrith rifle blue color) sphere with small spikes surrounding it. This grenade is as big as the pine-apple grenade. The grenade does glow a bit blueish like the glow on the Skrith rifle. When thrown, it has a dark blue with a hint of white trail that fallows the grenade. If the grenade is dropped, it doesn't leave a glowing trail.

The grenade was created for the sneaky Skrith Spec Ops squads. A renowned squad who used this grenade to its full potential was the KnightsBlade Squad. The squads and just regular soldiers of the Skrith military needed a quiet any almost funny grenade, with loads of personality, and the S4 delivers plenty of it.

Weapon Fire mode: Chooses whether if the bomb will be thrown far or short or auto throw.

Primary Fire: When in throw mode it shall be toss like any other grenade. anyone who has the grenade explode next to him (thrown mode) shall be blown to bits, the unfortunate guy or girl (...no discrimination here) gets attacked by a large expanding ball of skrith 'blue fire' energy... leaving the newly deceased person in a shower of gibs all being burned like how the skrith rifle burns a limb and you get that blue fire when the guy is dead... but this time it'd be on all of the gibs, though you might also just loose some part of you, like a regular grenade does, except with the blue burning fire.

Alt Fire: pressing alt will (discreetly) drop the grenade onto the ground, once dropped it activates its proximity radius. Anyone who walks into the proximity radius shall be blown to bits, it has the same explosion as it is in throw mode, namely a expanding blueish fire explosion that burns. Shooting the grenade will cause it to explode, nearby explosions will always likely set it off in when in prox mode.

Explosion: The effect is spectacular to say the least, like the G5 rocket exploding mixed with the flame grenade and the Skrith rifle's energy effect. Blue burning gibs fly everywhere. It would leave a massive blood explosion where the unfortunate foul died. Its about as powerful as a pineapple/ laser mine. The explosion of the S4EG is like a mix of the exploding Pineapple grenade (high explosives that does blast damage) with burning skrith energy ( burning damage) found in skrith rifles. When it explodes it shoots off flares of blue energy fire around it (like the flame grenade does, except it happens just after it explodes and it shoots out straighter rather than a lazy arch). The S4EG unleashes hell when it goes off, exploding and burning at the same time which creates an awesome light show for you.

its blue, it glows, its alien...now all you need is to make it stick to people (why not? It has spikes )

This sounds like the ammunition for the Skrith Coiled Grenade launcher which; like this, is a great idea...

This weapon can fit in well with the rest of the skrith weapons included. And I would be more than happy to see more blue burning gibs, that was a cool effect.

Also if this grenade is "not that big" then it needs to be smaller than a Pineapple

It has spikes cause they are the proximity detectors, plus it damages you if some jerk throughs it at your face.

Well i tried to not make it seem really like the CEGL. One thing is the explosion; the CEGL is more of a fast ball that damages then goes away, this (S3EG) is like a pineapple mix with skrith energy, namely high explosive burning damage with it tossing the 'blue fire' when the explosion happens, like the flame grenade does, except it's caused by the explosion. The CEGL's explosion is a dense energy a, the whole explosion is well contain when it goes off, this (S4EG) unleashes hell when it goes off, exploding and burning at the same time which creates an awesome light show

Making the thing stick would characterize it with the Sticky grenade used in the Halo series, and i didn't want that for it.

As for it behaving unexpectedly, leave that to the CEGL, that thing has multiply was to blow up, so

Mind you I wasnt taking it as a bad thing if it seemed you were throwing CEGL ammo, I liked the idea of a grenade launcher that fired grenades you can also throw. Makes things a bit more flexible.

Yeah, but you can't throw a CEG at all, you'd just be better off throwing a rock. The Coiled Energy Technology is what causes the CEG to become powerful, and that tech is on the grenade launcher and not on the grenade itself, which is why sometimes the CEG will just loose energy and become a another piece of ammo that you could pick up.

It is in a way a alien pineapple, it just has more character than just a boom, it now a boom sizzle.

Instead of just a blue alien Pineapple/Landmine that this is, why not give it a more colorful and interesting effect (not graphics-wise, but function-wise).

Say, on striking a surface or person, it adheres to it with its spikyness, with the fuse running down all the while. Once the fuse runs out, the many spikes start shooting off at random with sizzling blue energy. When the spike(s) that are sticking to the wall/person goes off, the grenade pops off the wall/person (injuring person further in the process).

Once all spikes go off, the thing explodes in blue fiery goodness, albeit with a more concentrated blast radius than the pineapple.

All of this should occur within 2 seconds of the fuse burning out.

Would be funny as hell to watch.

The Covenant Plasma grenade just explodes in blue fire, which is pretty much what your grenade does minus stickiness. It's not like Bungie copyrighted "flying explosives that stick to people".

If it's gonna be covered in spikes, then there's no reason for it not to be "adhesive".

I still think my idea is the best though. Would be funny to see. Sadistic too.

Spike throwing grenades have already been mentioned twice for two other very human weapons. But I can think of some ways to make this one seem more "alien"

1. It launches spikes but not at every random angle, they could travel around the explosion in a horizontal spinning vortex that keeps the area dangerous for a while.

2. It launches spikes but the spikes follow you and can find you around walls you may be hiding behind.

3. It could release multiple, smaller grenades upon detonation like a MIRV.

4. It could release a small blue tornado that sucks up nearby objects and crushes them. Why? Because its alien technology.

5. It could release a nasty death ray in 4 opposite directions that last for a few seconds

6. It could burst into multiple small yellow smiling faces that bounce everywhere and hunt you down, screaming things like "We are Proxies! Resistance is futile!"

Oh the possiblities.

Upon reading your idea over again K (the above idea), it actually seems smart and useful and good. So it has two sort of explosions? 1 for the spikes to fly off and the second for just blowing up?

I'm only a bit against it for when its in bomb mode, for if it takes 2 seconds between spikes going off then the real explosion to start, the guy could already be gone.

I think maybe having the spikes and main explosion in unison would be a bit better.

Like once the explosion goes off, it creates the concentrated explosion, but also launches all the spikes in the many directions it needs to go... some being inside the guy or just everywhere else.

Either that or just the spikes should explode off first then almost right away the real explosion can happen.

Do we really need another landmine weapon though? The BX5s and FP9s are bad enough I think.

Also, from tech descriptions, the sadistic stab-happy bastards really don't seem like the type to use landmine weapons at all. It seems like they would really love to see a guy run around screaming in a panic for 2 seconds while spikes shoot out of metal grenade stuck to his ass. I know I would.

Yeah, but having it also being a proximity mine adds a bit more depth to it.

Maybe do a little realistic idea on the 'stickiness' of it. Instead of a true sticky grenade, it will be affected by gravity only about 1/10 of the normal gravity and will roll around, but much slower due to the grenade having the spikes on it. So it'll move down a vertical wall slowly, like one of those sticky balls you played with and threw at walls when you were a kid kinda thing.

It's not any alien technology that lets it stick to walls or people. Held in the hand, it's a spherical blue thing (imperfection would be nice here) with little holes in it. On contact with something, be it man or rock, 1-2 inch barbed spikes thrust out of the grenade and impale itself in whatever it hit. It's a combination of the force of the throw and the force of the spikes shooting out that adheres the grenade to the object. It won't roll around the ground or down walls at all. At least, in my vision of a Skrith grenade it won't.

And proximity mines just don't fit the Skrith personality I think. I don't thnik a Skrith would ever want to miss his kill. They probably record them so they can watch them again later

Well the devs liked the grenade as is. Who knows, maybe they'll like having it as a sticky grenade.

Also, its just about uniqueness.

proximity.. that i'm not to sure of.. i'm more keen on having a classic grenade sorta thing..

the fun part of such a device would be trying to make it how a Skrith would have it..

Say we attach a 1.5 ft cord and handle to one end of the explosive. We now have a flail that can be swung around at high speeds to be hurled at enemies or simply bashed onto them. Contact will make the spikes protrude and embed the explosives onto a person. The explosion will be very concentrated, so as to provide a balanced weapon. Damage at range would rely solely on the spikes flying every which way.

Flinging a skrith mace around can behave like the shieldgun = hold the button down to swing it around, the longer you do the more powerful it gets until it reaches a maximum.

When you near someone the weapon can auto-fire just like the shieldgun. Giving the impression the mace hit a solid object.

Letting go of the fire button or hitting alternate fire releases the mace as a grenade. We can steal code from the X3 knife for this. It will be as simple as having two firemodes that interrelate with eachother.

Having it attach to objects has been done before with the WoE CFX, take notes from that.

And UT2004 is very versatile with explosions. Mr.UglyPants I encourage you to be a very creative with the detonation. Think outside the boom. It can be done.

Imagine the animations SB would have to make for that to actually look decent.
