I think a Flash and a Smoke grenade is a good idea

Both have already been asked for, the devs are thinking of maybe making a flash grenade.

Of course they aren't, this is a DM game, not a tactical slow paced SP.

Ahem... Sorry for the hijack, but if I were to create a new thread for my idea, it'd be named exactly as this one is.
So, my suggestion for a new grenade is shockwave grenade - when it explodes, it does relatively little damage, but whoever is unfortunate enough to be within its range, is thrown at a great speed away from the explosion. In case of open air arenas, there's a chance of dropping someone off the edge, or at least throwing them away from yourself. Inside rooms, people/bots could take damage from being thrown against walls. In addition to that, a slight stunning effect would be nice... Like a hissing sound in ears, and very, very drunken view for people, and decreased accuracy for bots.
These grenades could also be used as boosters for tricky jumps.

I'm thinking Stun grenade, which explodes does minimum damage yet it has medium to large blast radius, and anything within it upon detonating is stunned, namely they change move, though the can shoot and change weapons. The stun would last for say 4 seconds.

BW already has a smoke grenade, it is green and poisons you.

As for a flashbang you will find its too much of a counterstrike icon and thus wont appeal to the BW dev's who love originality.

Try my brainshock grenade idea, it functions similar to a flashbang but it is a thousand times cooler. It gives you seisures.

Baltic sailors idea sounds good also and is a bit like what I had in mind.

That doesn't make any sense. The force required to throw someone great distances at high velocity is gonna crush a few bones in the body of the victim.

We want to have a flash grenade, we just haven't got round it. A smoke grenade is also on our wish list, but wil require some AI changes first...
Stun grenade could be cool. Though a stun mine is also something we were thinking of...
A shock grenade that throws people far doesn't make much sense, cause that basically what a big explosion is, but it is possible in the game world! An anti gravity bomb...

BW is not either a tactical game or a UT style 'race to suicide', it can be both or either. We have players of all kinds of styles. By default, BW leans towards the tactical, but it really depends on the style of each player...

I guess I stand corrected, the Dev's really do want a counterstrike weapon or two.

Doom had shotguns, guess we got a Doom weapon or two as well...?

As far as shotguns go you have a genuine FPS standard issue weapon. Not just a Doomo'rifle

Take if from a former counterstrike enthusiast; weapons that annoy rather than menace dont strike me as well...appropriate

Uh, why is it a counterstrike copy? Flashbangs don't belong to any game. Are you gonna say that BW ripped of wolfenstein 3D because it has a minigun?

The fact that the argument involves such a generic weapon like flashbangs is what I find odd. If you want something a little different, it won't be a flashbang anymore.

Perhaps it wont be an actual Flashbang but a small difference wont mean it wont be a strategic blinding/disruption device

My own idea for a flashbang worked by disrupting electrical signals in the brain and thus compromised the sences. Essensially still a flashbang with regards to function.

Of course thats coming from a man who favors the high-tech and fantastically new. I am beginning to think you are more of a purist who likes to keep the concepts simple*? No?
