I haven't seen the spread of bullets tighten, I haven't seen an increase in accurasy, or the precision of the crosshair increase.. I hope there's something to it :unsure: |

I am curious too. What exactly does iron sights do to improve aim for the guns? I think it should lower spread & recoil for shotguns, and decrease inaccuracy & recoil for other guns. |

the iron sights are their so that you have increased accuarcy. simply as that its good as it is now, so no changes! |

I realized what it did for every OTHER gun, but I've switched back and forth between Iron Sights and normal aiming on a shotgun and not seen a difference at all... Don't get me wrong, that feature itself is endlessly helpful, don't change it. |

I think the sights zoom the shotgun in a little. For those people at mid range that you want to damage a little bit more. Oh, and hello, I'm new here.

Well, I dunno where I'm going here, but you don't "aim" a shotgun unless you're using slugs(I THINK), using correct terminology. You point it. So in reality, the iron sights for the shotgun is more of a realistic thing, because you're supposed to "draw a bead" on your target. You look straight down the barrel, and if you're doing it correctly, that bead is the center of your shot pattern. There's a lot more to using a shotgun then you might think. So the iron sights, for me, give a more precise prediction of where my shot is gonna go around. I don't know...it just seemed like this would help...It probably doesn't though. |

That is not true if the developers didn't change anything when iron sighting the shotguns.

The iron sights make the gun a bit more stable, they aren't great when you have someone knifing you but over all its easier to get kill at a distance with them on!! |

BW doesn't really follow the "iron sights" thing correctly........... moving the gun closer to the middle of the screen isn't what most games call "iron sights". in most games you pull your gun up to the players eye and you see STRAIGHT down the barrel, BW just zooms in a bit with the gun closer to the middle of the screen. example: when you use the 'iron sights' with the M50 you aren't looking down the barrel and through the sight of the gun. there for you dont get the full advantage of the iron sights feature. the XK2 does follow the rule tho........ well maybe some guns do and some dont (in BW). |

I think the reason you don't look straight down the barrel is because the camera screen is in the way. It would be impossible to actually look through the ironsights on that gun. |

yeah most of the guns you can look down the barrel just not the M50 and the pistol (at least i'm pretty sure you can't)! |

we couldnt make it look exactly down both sights.. we tried, and it blocked the screen, and look all round more crap:( so we settled for the front sight with some perspective |

I don't know why, but when playing a realism mod (with not too big, view blocking weapons like the ut2k4 RL for instance...) ironsights allways help me target faster, because the gun is in the centre of my screen and I'm looking along the barrel. Yay for rapid target acquistition! (did I spell that correctly?) |
