What i mean is Tribes 2 had beacons that could be used as A. a marker for a location (pretty useless) or emit a beam that showed were to aim mortars/nade launchers to hit there (by showing an "Aim here"ish item), the tribes targeting laser worked in a similer non static way the player used it like a weapon and could "fire" at a target in your view to help team mates aim there I could see this working as part of the my fire support idea as one of the aiming opptions (such as targeting marker, or throwing a signil) then press a fire button to select a support type, that would allow teamates to use it before you use the support and don't get me started on how cool deployables were in tribes >_> |

Hm, not sure whether this is what you had in mind, or how difficult it would be to code, but it would be pretty neat if you had some kind of laser targeting device that makes bots on your team fire their weapons (any weapon, including vehicle mounted ones etc.) at a certain location / target. Ideally you could choose between letting them just fire at a target from a stationary position or running towards it (while firing). Basically a Mine Layer altfire for bots. |

Yes if it had the same funtionalty (aiming asistance) as i discribed makeing it work with bots=good |

Yeah, my version anyway... Prim tells bots (within a certain radius? The ones which you select via a little menu?) where to fire their guns, alt tells them where to run and attack. Alt is more or less identical to the spider mine guidance laser, only for bots. Edit: oh and it's not really a "beacon", but a hand held laser pointer device. Go where laser is pointed, looks cooler... Esp. BW lasers!
Orders would be: 1) "run / drive to where laser is pointing" and 2) "fire from current position on whatever is illuminated by laser" (or the general area, anyway). Maybe others like "follow me" / "roam"? Can't think of anything particularly useful at the moment... Orders 1 & 2 can't currently be done via the menu / speech afaik, at least not with any kind of precision, so it would be useful to have those. It would also be cool if you could select bots with the laser instead of using a menu. Point at a bot with prim laser held down, then click alt to select. Something like that... |

One last thought... Maybe you could have a combination of targeting laser (above) and probe darts that are shot like projectiles and can stick to people, vehicles, turrets, nodes etc., designating them as targets. Both methods have their own (dis)advantages, and combined they'd give you a fair amount of control over teambots. |
