This is my first post, and I find this an amazing mod, so here goes: The Skrith VRWS (aka FoeCleaver, aka Spread Gun) Backstory: The Skrith love close range, but realize that sometimes it is just not the best choice. To add an effective long range weapon to their arsenal, they developed the VRWS "Foecleaver", a weapon that can be used effectively at any range. It's axe-like bayonets are useful in melee, and it's shot can be used at any range effectively. The Skrith did not see a point in developing advanced optics, however, so it has a scope with a maximum of only 2x zoom. Summary: This weapon has a very wide spread when partly charged, but as it charges the spread decreases. It's purpose is to fill two gaps in the Skrith arsenal, the role of shotgun and the role of Sniper Rifle. Primary Fire: While held, the weapon charges. It can hold full charge indefinitely, like the railgun. Depending on the choke (see fire mode, below), it fires either a large spread or a close spread of bullets. As it charges, it uses up ammo (max 4 closed, 8 open). Every charge gives up to 50 damage to the weapon. At full charge, it does 4x base damage (based on choke) in a smaller area. At full charge on closed choke, for instance, it has railgun-like accuracy. It takes one shotgun pump of time to charge it to half power, and another to charge it fully. Secondary Fire: Melee attack with side bayonets Special: Switches gun to autocharge, which let's it charge itself like a railgun, but hinders versatility. Fire Mode: One of the most important parts of the weapon, the fire mode selects the choke. At closed choke, it can only use up to half as much ammo, but hits a much smaller area, eventually dealing up to 200 damage in a straight line. At Open choke, it uses up double ammo, and has a much wider spread. It can do up to 400 damage in an area slightly larger than the M763's area. Edit: Maybe to make the open choke more useful, it could do more damage per charge than closed, like 75 damage per charge to a max of 600 (same as an M290) Iron Sight: Uses the scout sight of the rifle, with a very large view but only up to 2x zoom Ammo: Uses Skrith Power Coils, as from the Assault Rifle. I hope that you will find this idea interesting, and would love to hear comments on this for balancing or other issues. I also hope that eventually either I or someone else will actually make this thing, but doubt it, as I'm not gonna sponsor anyone and I'm lazy. |

Some things: 1. How fast do these projectiles fire? Is it like a human shotgun or some kind of plasma spread-shooter? 2. I don't think sniping is the Skrith's style. They favor close combat above all, so I'm not sure if a sniper weapon would really work for them. 3. A variable-choke shotgun is a really neat idea. Really cool. |

1. The projectiles move at Skrith assault rifle speed when minimally charged, and speed up as charged until at full speed they're practically instantaneous. (Wrong word, but you know what I mean) Or, if you meant rate of fire, it's as fast as you will let it charge. Minimum charge fires a huge spread that does tiny damage, but is almost fully semiautomatic. It can be used to make a wall of projectiles, but that wall is a waste of ammo. 2. The reason for this weapon's variable range system is that Skrith don't like sniping, but realized that it's sometimes better to take out a machine gun nest from a distance after failing several times to take it out by charging. Also, the weapon is designed to shine as a close range shotgun substitute. On open choke at half charge, it does 200 damage to a fairly small area as fast as a shotgun would. 3. Thanks!
