Simple idea.

Its a big bomb attached to your back.
Press the button and BOOM big fat explosion.

Takes down yourself and everyone around you, damages the people around the blast radius. Strong weapon, but suicide, should always kill more then 1 people to have profit, best use in close corridors, many players :D

Something like this gives me an idea, and something similar has been brought up before.

How about whenever you die but don't lose any major body parts in the process you lay there for about 5-10 seconds, that way you can make one final action before you bite the dust.

Something like this would make a suicide weapon just perfect. I mean, really, how many people would want to blow themselves up if they could still be a threat? Something like what I mentioned would make this a pretty cool last ditch, final laugh, predator style death attack.

Sounds awesome. So is that more or less like when your dead, your still in control of your body and could say press a combo (like UP,UP, DOWN,RIGHT as an example) and your character explodes or something? If so, this would work well in Instant Action if DC ever got that gibbable body code to work in Instant Action, then you could prevent a guy blowing up by shooting off his head or something to stop it.

I was thinking more about normal use of weapons, only your aim would really be screwed up due to you laying on the ground dying.

Okay.

Though it'd be neat as hell if say the devs made an artifact kind of weapon which just spawns randomly in the map for a minute (or the time is controlled) then it spawns in a new place (picking it up would force it to find a new place in the map), and this thing that is spawned could be like a suicide vest or bomb that your player wears, which gives you full health and armor but forces you to only use (an option to have it so this doesn't happen would be great) the bomb (it'd have a remote like the FPN laser mine does) and then you just rush a bunch of people and press prim and blow up and the bomber would not loose a point for blowing himself up it'd be just like any other weapon, shooting and killing the guy who has this on him would make him blow up. This would also be just a regular weapon, so you could easily set it to not spawn randomly around the map and have it spawn like where the Bio spawns.

We could just expand on the Pineapple Grenade's current abilities. You can quite easily suicide-bomb people with it already, although you'd need two kill at least two people for it to work.

How about changing the function of the reload key? Instead of releasing the lever to start the fuse, it pulls out a second grenade, with the pin pulled by your teeth like in war movies. You then release the levers for both grenades using the weapon special and run up to a guy and explode, with double the damage and a bigger blast radius.

yeah lol but with grenades it is the problem that it takes awhile before exploding, 3 secs is alot in combat.

so perhaps you can make the grenades explode instantly? :D

That would be a little neat concept to have for the grenade.

Though i still firmly think a suicide bomb would be just better.

Maybe even an option/mutator gametype that makes it so once your out of ammo (only left with meele), you'd get the suicide bomb and blow up a few guys and yourself in the process.

Can pawn still be controlled while in ragdoll mode ?
Could be fun if on dead instead of going to third person sight and lose control immediatly, view kept in first person, and control faded over time.
Only by view moving on ragdoll animation would make it hard enough to aim.
May be once on floor it is still possible to aim a bit, or switch weapons, which would give then two new options:
- use grenade, if you dont have something better, has the problem of the delay
- use explosive pack, rocket, or mine, could blow up immediatly.

May be add another fake weapon you get on death, that pressing any weapon button with it active lets leave the body immediatly to respawn, so you dont have to wait the few seconds if what you want is just respawn as fast as before.

With that simulated wepons, could even without altering the normal ones, on death get this "special" item that allows you to choose to blow yourself up with any explosives you have as mentioned above.

Edit: Or also, you always start with that one simulated weapon that allows you to use any explosives as kamikaze, not only on death but also when alive. If you take the grenade option, once triggered dissapears, you get back to previous weapon, and a counter appears on screen with the remaining time until detonation.



Edit again:
That special weapon:
Primary: If dead respawn immediatly, otherwise nothing
Secondary: If you have grenades, prime them, if not, nothing happens
Special1: If you have grenades, prime them, if not, detonate mines, rockets or explosive pack if available
Special2: If you have mines, rockets, or explosives, detonate them, otherwise prime grenades if available

Icon on inventory could be a skull :p doesnt need to be visible on hand

Actually it would be better if you could use the detpack as a suicide bomb ( or as i sometimes use em stick as much of them against the raptor or hellbender and then ride it into your enemy's powernode and detonate them) :D

knowing that a suicidevest is composed of some explosives and a vest or other piece of clothing the devs could perhaps make another mode for the detpack ,
stick it to yourself and jump on the enemy and detonate yourself or in a last stand agianst your enemy you pull it out and pull a string or so as you fall to the ground

Another idea is to use the time that is left when you are liing on the ground bleeding to dead to put a jumpmine under your body result your enemy runs over to pick up your weapon and surprise KABOOM some bloody revenge , it would make the game more tactical i think

why not use the landmine as suicide bomb? It only needs a special function, smashing the landmine with your fist while its in your hands :D
