I was just wondering what if we had an assault rifle that fired shotgun shells as an alternate firing mode like the one from Killzone but looked more similar to the original assault rifle from UT2K4

Heh, I had that idea before with the old old Black Market Weapons I was planning with. When you get finished with that, I guess we could both use this for our BW mods.

It looks like the bullpup-shotgun type is getting pretty popular now.

I was also thinking of a version that fires an airburst rocket like in BF2142. Instead of a camera, the screen would indicate the rocket's detonation range, adjustable by the mousewheel while in iron-sights, or automatically adjusting to whatever it's pointed at when you hit press weapon special. It would be hard as hell to do though, so I'm gonna hold off on that for a while.

More common assault rifle stuff is the last things we need.

A shotgun addon to the m50 sounds nice. Special 2 button could be used to detach/detach the addons.

I wouldn't mind more assault rifles.

Attaching and detaching add-ons would be impossible without new models and animations, so that would take a lot of work.

I've always wanted a Bullpup type gun for BW, so I'd give that a thumbs up. That attachment should be a shotgun.

Im thinking more along the lines of the JackHammer.
The one zero posted is an assault rifle with a grenade launcher attachment, it doesn't fit the type really.

i think the jackhammer fits this ideas description better.

The jack hammer failed to go into full scale prduction and was not accepted into any militaries as far as i know. I think a pump action shotgun under on an assault rifle would be a good idea, kinda like the one in predator where billy had the m4 with the shotgun attached to it. I think the main thing killing it is the size of the magazines, they are to big to cary multiples. In a world where you can have a box magazine carrying the same amount of ammo with the option of carrying more mags i think anyone would go with the normal box mags. If the gun was reworked to accept the box type i think many militaries would take another look at it.

In the picture with the bullpup in it the guy looks isreali to me, hes holding an m4 with an m203 grenade launcher on it and the bull pup has an m203 launcher but ive never seen the gun before. It could of been one submitted for testing but as far as i know they got the new compact rifle replacing the m16 series (because m16 family SUCKS)

thats kinda like what billy had in predator. Thats an m4 carbine with a heavily modified remington 870 attached to it. I personaly would try to make the mount for the shotgun more compact so it sits closer up to the barrel of the rifle but that means you would also have to lengthen the barrel of the shotgun so its even with the barrel as not to damage the muzzle break on the end of the rifle. Some how we need to figure out what that shotgun would look like on a bullpup style rifle.

that the design was not needed, with shotguns out there that are in a much more simpler package that do the same thing, why go and make a more complicated version of something that you already have a simpler version of. Just common sense, it would of been a waste or resources, man power, and time to test, manufacture, and field something they already have that still works.

all that being said about the jackhammer, I read that it had a cool feature where the shotgun shell drum could be rigged as a claymore style directional mine that would discharge all the shells in the drum when triggered. Would make an interesting special ability function for an auto shotgun.

i was kinda thinking that there should be an assault rifle with a shotgun that is actually built in to the gun, not really an attatchment...

My MP-89 has a semi-auto shotgun underslung, witha 4 shell clip. Check the topic for it

Heh, yeah... Not very compact, rather big gun, think a bit bigger than an assault rifle. The Shotgun is short-barrelled. Not very accurate, reduces the size a bit

there are actually assault rifles fitted with shotguns like the m4 has a substituted m203 grenade luancher for a shortbarreled shot gun and takes about 6rounds its a breach load shotgun so you have to load manually plus a short barrel makes a shotgun more accurate at close range becuase the shorter the barrel the wider the shotgun spread plus it has an assault rifle so why need a shotgun to to be accurate at long range

how about an AK47/74/101 style rifle but with an extended barrel for the shotgun attatchment so that the shrapnel doesn't hit the barrel?

Anyway, looking at that gave me an idea. Why not reverse the idea and have a semi automatic shotgun with an underslung submachinegun?
