I was just reading the Red Badge of Courage stuff, and those Minie balls sound pretty nasty. If there was an updated futuristic version of it in BW, the flesh-tearing capabilities of it would be fun. Then for Minie Ball headshots there should be a slightly different effect when the head explodes, so that I know I shredded instead of blowing the head off. The futuristic Minie Ball would be a little more devastating than a regular bullet from what I can see, since I don't think that bullets would open up in such a way that the Minie Ball does. So what do you think? Plausible? Stupid? Just thought that something like this should be given some consideration. |

Here. From what I know, I believe the Minie Ball sort of expands on impact, but that's just me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini%C3%A9_ball |

There really isn't much of a point. All it is is a very large caliber bullet made entirely of lead. While lead's softness causes it to expand on impact and create more grievous wounds, its low melting point means it can't be fired at high velocities. And lead stripped off from the bullet during firing can foul up your barrel. Besides, there are modern expanding bullets out there today. Ever heard of a hollow point? |

You just gave me this idea... A ball shot from a gun that once it leaves the barrel it covers itself in razor-blades,on contact these blades are then propelled in random directions causing lots of chaos and quite the mess. Don't ask me how the miniball gave me that idea,it just did.

Never heard of a hollow point, only the Minie Ball. So maybe then we could discuss about a gun that uses that? I just think that expanding bullets would be fun to use in-game. |

The GRS9 is described as using JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point) rounds. |

*Disgusted sounds* Those two, both the Minnie Ball and Hollow-point, are dang nasty. I mean, that's just awful. I'd love to see something like this in the mod, though. |

The prime gun to get them would be the deerhunter sice the pictures of spent bullets in adds in hunting magazines allways look nasty - mushroom shaped jagged metal everywhere |

Considering thats one of the best ways to put a deer on its a** because it transfers all of its energy into the animal, where a full metal jacket goes right through transfering very little energy into a target as compared to a hollow or soft point. They are Illegal to use in a military because of the wounds and damage that they do to the target. I used a 180 grain 7.62x54r soft point to get my 8 point white tail last year, blew off two legs on one side, it ran for quite a long ways before i tracked it down and put another one right behind its shoulder. I dont like hollow point, i used them in my mauser and it was like i was shootin bricks, couldnt hit anything with em. Btw no matter what you are using there are going to be deposits in the barrel that fouls up the bore, lead being one of the worst, then cupra nickle, then copper being the cleanest and easiest to clean. |

It's sounds like a cool gun, but as for gameplay, it seems like another gun where you put your crosshair on an enemy and hold the trigger down until someone dies. |

Illigal to use against other people - but i guess you (if you were in the Archon Uninverse) would rather that that skrith had massive internal wounds and wasn't going to get up again, rather than using bullets that go straight through with little effect... |

Yesh I dont care too much for this idea as the mini ball was originaly designed for muzzle loaders to replace the inaccurate lead ball. GREAT idea back when the world's militaries still used black powder, but in the time of the boattail spitzer bullets being propelled by smokeless powder (which is now) shows how inferior the mini ball is compared to modern ammo and would be a step backwards. BTW Hollow point, soft points, and mini balls have no penetration power when confronting and armoured opponent. This ammo is created for use on soft skinned targets such as Animals and in the case of the mini ball and the civil war, people. |
