After the Skrith failed to break the Terran controlled worlds throughout the galaxy, the skrith put there brightest engineers to work. Just prior to the start of the second skrith terran war (i think thats what its called), the engineers developed a marvelous new weapon to strike fear into the terrans.

The CESR (the skirth don't put the skirth in front of the name) or 'snake' as Terran soldiers have come to call it, is a mix of ballistic assault rifle "old" tech (old in the eyes of the Skirth) and Skirth energy technology. The rifle looks truly skirth like, blue and green, reflective, looks a tiny bit like the current skirth rifle, but thats where it ends. This new weapon is much longer than the skrith rifle and a bit thiner. The Cryon Scope sits just behind where the ammo is loaded into.

The reason why the skrith used 'some' Terran tech to develop this gun is that the Terrans knew how to make energy more dense, which is what makes this gun so potent. On either side, are 2 to 4 packs of coils that are on the side of where the ammo is loaded (ammo is loaded from the top, like current skrith rifle).

When firing this gun, the coils flare to life, causing the original energy (like the one used in the Skrith rifle) to become more dense, so what would take 20 shots, now is 3. These 3 shots, are fired in burst form (you guys (the public) will know what i mean when 2.0 comes out) like the skrith sidearms burst fire. and these 3 shots can drop a a soldier in 1 hit to the chest with full health and relatively no armor, though if you hit the head, its lights out for sure since its extra damage to armor and flesh. 1 to 3 seconds (balance needs) between firing since the coils would overheat and melt.

The Skrith Engineers got the Cryons to grow scopes, since glass is somewhat non-existent to the skrith right now. Like the Skrith rifle, the CESR never needs to be cocked.

CESR (in summary)

Prim Fire: Fires a tight burst of 3 (BW2.0 Skrith sidearm burst) dense and powerful energy shots (skrith style), that can kill a guy with full health if all 3 hit with a 1 to 3 second (maybe 4) between firing to allow the coils to cool down.
Alt Fire and Iron Sights Key: Brings up the scope though the gun doesn't have a lot of zoom, since the Skrith still don't really understand it.

Weapons Fire mode and special function key don't do anything, no results if you try to re-cocked the gun either.


After successful testing in the field and seeing real combat, word has risen throughout the low ranks that a full auto version of the rifle is in the early stages of testing, along with an assortment of other versions of the CESR, all based on the Coiled technology.

Why fire 3 shots when pulling the trigge? Why not just one powerful?

Sounds cool, but instead of only 1 weapon fire mode, why not make 3? The first could shoot 1 shot say every x seconds, the second would then shoot 2 shots every 2x seconds, and the third, well you get my point.

I think it sounds cool, too.

Yeah, sounds good, though I'd prefer it if you could choose between burst and single (more powerful) projectile mode. And Special could be an extra scope function, like maybe some kind of alien looking night vision or whatever.

Well i thought a burst so that it was different from most sniper ideas out there, thus making it have a better chance of the devs liking its originality.



I was thinking of maybe giving it that. Now that i've seen that many people think that they want it, i'll think of something for it.

PM me firing solutions and the like, ie rates of fire, damage between 3 burst and 1 shot, ect.


I'm thinking of having the single shot be half as powerful as the 3 burst shot (all 3 combine in terms of damages), with a shorter 1.7 second rate of fire.



Hmm, a special function like night vision... maybe. Though i'd rather it be something that would be usful in any map not just dark ones.

Night vision - or some equivalent - would be nice, as the Skrith like engaging in low-light evironments, assuming they don't have naturally good low-light vision.

Anyways, me likey. The Skrith would definetly make an exception to their distaste for ranged weapons for a sniper rifle. I think.

I kinda like the idea of the three burst. They are able to compress the energy so much before the gun can't handle it or something, so they just do it three times instead. Me likes.

Kind of, yes, but in this case motion will get a red highlight, not heat.

Sounds too much like the Railgun's special. Plus i doubt the skrith have a clue how to fully use something like scopes and stuff. Remember, this scope is grown by the Cryon. Unless SB and DC find it acceptable for the skrith to have created glass and scopes.

Drop the night light special discussion guys, its totally useless for a gun like this.

Not true UP, motion detection is nothing like the x-ray scope of the railgun.

If you think they are too similar, you could just as well drop the scope addition altogether.

The scope is their because it is a sniper weapon.

Motion detection. How would that work.

Maybe like a heat signature... tells you if a player has recently passed a certain place...

"My sensors indicate that a human has just passed here... He's nearby... Find him!!!"

Yep... That would be very, very Skrith-like.

That wasn't a part of my idea, but it does sound nifty if it is possible to achieve.

I dunno. Maybe a motion sensor on it. That or it won't have a special. One reason would be because the technology is quite new to the skrith. and the skrith generals don't want to overwhelm there warriors with many functions and stuff, since they are supposed to kill or be killed, nothing else.

Maybe we should keep the skrith-thinking to the devs, they know much better than us how the skrith should be like.

perhaps 1 or 2 tweaks, but the story sounds pretty close to what it would be

awesome idea unfortunately i have to side with those who call for a motion detecting scope, and the single shot fire

i also propose an alternative to the motion detection, a sort of sonar vision.

when in this scoped mode you would not see the enemy constantly unless they were actively producing noise by running, or shooting and if possible if they switch weapons. if the enemy is not active they will produce a very faint signature that blinks into view at a regular interval consistent with a resting heart rate

the scope view would be in a sort of blue static view of the environment with some detail as to the lay of the land, with noise producers being sharp and clear with a much brighter blue color and possibly a visual indication of soundwaves

I can't side with the single shot...

It removes some of the uniqeness of this gun. Plus with the 3 round burst it adds a bit more use of skill to it, where you'd have to lead the targets so that all three shots would hit (of course, thats assuming these shots would be going at a speed that almost makes them instant hit, right?).

Maybe a sompromise? How about you'd be able to fire the rounds off singly too, but you'd be able to fire off two more in quick succesion and then you'd have to wait a bit of time for the gun to cool off enough to do that process again.
