This new design is for the most pious of warriors! Not only can you burn those dirty heretics with this sucker, but it can also supply you the stake to burn them at!

The dual bayonet blades have an electric arc between them, as the copper tipped stake flies between them, it leads the electricity, giving you an electrically charged stake.

The under slung flame thrower also uses the electric arc as a pilot light.

And yes, flaming, electrilized stakes will be an option.

What is the purpose of the "Fun meter"?

Post subject:  Witch Burner

Well, thats actually the fuel meter, but, as you may know, less fuel to burn = less fun.

How does it launch said stakes?

Also, I don't think passing an electrical current through the stake would electrically charge the stake for the purpose of shocking witches. You'd need some sort of high voltage capacitor in it or something, and it would probably be simpler to just charge the thing while it's sitting on the launcher.

EDIT: Ah, it's a crossbow.

How about combining the charged bayonet with the crossbow arms? You could then use the crossbow's power as a kind of slicing melee attack instead of just a simple thrust.

Can it have a special kind of dart containing a neurotoxin that turns you into a newt?

Author:  Captain Xavious [ Mon May 19, 2008 10:45 am ]
Post subject:  Witch Burner

No, for that would be witchcraft and as a result you would be obligated to stake and then burn yourself until dead.

You'll get better though.

Combining the bayonets with the arms? Thats silly...

This is a fantasy weapon, the moment you (kaboodles) start to bring real world stuff into it, instantly labels you as an EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!

That weapon is obviously fantasy, it makes no sense to evaluate it with scientific logic.

I love this weapon idea, btw.

Post subject:  Witch Burner

Well if it's a magic weapon, then I assume its inventor, manufacturers, and users are obligated to stake and burn themselves until dead for witchcraft.

It makes far more sense to charge the stakes while resting on the launcher as opposed to charging them on their way out.

No it doesn't. A stake nestling there wouldn't hold a charge, and the fuel would get ignited too early, causing damage to the weapon.

However, while a stake passing through the arc wouldn't actually hold a charge either, it would lead the charge and would likely let the arc be able to jump a bit further away, but nothing extreme.

But considering this is a game and a fantasy weapon, I still don't think any of it matters.

Besides, it'd look sweet seeing the stake pass through the arc and sparking and stuff on its way out.

Also, who said this weapon was magic anyways?

I see nothing magical about it.

If there is sticking people to walls with electrified, burning metal stakes covered in fuel, then I will be a happy panda.... (Can't remember which member used that first here....)

Well, I think the sticking part is gonna be tricky to do, but that would be a goal I'm hoping for.

But the stakes are wooden. Only the tips are copper.

Yeah FANTASY, not magic. Kaboodles is the one that brought up magic ;)

Should prove quite the interesting weapon.

Post subject:  Witch Burner

Ah, so the stakes are made of wood? You didn't mention that earlier.

I'm not opposed to strange weapon ideas on principle. I would love to see this weapon in some form in-game. Hurling flaming, pointed sticks at people with a primitive weapon from a bygone era (with some modern updates) would be incredibly fun, and such a weapon would be one of the few weapons in this mod with any semblance of personality (which isn't incredibly important, but there it is). My only beef with it is that it doesn't make any sense.

I mean take this wall-pinning business here. Barring rocket-propelled stakes (that might be cool), that just isn't going to happen unless the guy was already standing up against a wall.

Also, I fail to see this major distinction being made between "fantasy" and "magic". If the science behind it doesn't work, then how else is it supposed to work other than by magic?

EDIT: Also, I think combining flamethrower, crossbow, and electrified stabbing implement might be a little much for a single weapon. How would the controls work for this thing?

Video game science makes it work.

As for the sticking to the wall, eh, I figure it'd stick rag dolls to walls and stuff, simply because its something everyone seems to want. And its cool.

Glad you love the concept though.

I also got plans for a few other weapons with personality. ;)

Question: is this a steam punk-ish weapon?

I like that idea.
Especially the design.

Yeah, one could say its steampunk.

Glad its getting good reception. Means I'll be all the more eager to make it when I get to it. :)

Repent!

Wicked Cool Xavious, I might make a Holy Water gun one of these days...

Holy water gun? Heh, that reminds me of Thief 1.

Draw me up plans and designs. I want more weapons of the more supernatural background that have an archaic/steampunk look to them.

I'd like to make an evil answer to this gun that would be used by the dirty heretics. Perhaps an evil, enchanted sacrificial blade thats got some sort of spell casting thingy?

My plan is to get a couple weapons that share a similar theme together, and just kinda release themed bonus packs.

What about a "weapon" where the player holds a spell book in one hand and the other hand ready for performing the spells? ;)

Author:  Captain Xavious [ Sun May 25, 2008 9:35 pm ]
Post subject:  Witch Burner

Thats an idea, and different attacks could be symbolized with the turning of pages (with each page holding different symbols), but I'm kinda liking the sound of a sacrificial dagger that would do pretty much the same things and then some melee too.

MAGIC!!! Best idea so far in this thread (other than just trying to add weaps to the game already).

Hey, not like it's a bad idea to add weapons of ANY sort, is it? *begins to think of try to design this*
