I miss the disc shooting thing from UT99. My idea is that someone could make a similiar weapon. I have started on one myself, but I have to make my other weapon first.

Edit:
I just relized that if this weapon would require making head gibs of att the player models. :( Since it obviously, it's main fun element is to behead enemies.

A ripper-esque weapon would be cool.

A big problem thoug is to have a more or less realistic magazine in terms of size. My could contain 8 discs I think. :(

The problem is that in the UT series, the ripper ammo was either 'warped' in or fabricated on the spot.

Though it could easily(sorta) be possible to have the aforementioned disk drum. Then just reload the somewhat bulky thing.

Now as for explosive disks I'm not sure...

OOH! I've had a idea for quite some time for a crossbow type weapon that shoots sawblades.
It spins them with a chainsaw motor connected to a disk like platform that the sawblade rests on.Think like a disk drive in a computer.
Then when the thing is ready to fire, the disks separate from the motor and are propelled by the bow.

I have a a disc drum. :/

The crossbow sounds a little like the cutter in an UT2004 mod which name I can not remember. My weapon has a little hooker thing on both sides of the discs which goes along to rail things on both sides. The idea is that the disc has a magnetic core, so it goes via gauss mechanism.

Magnetic spin...
I like that.

Still something has to be said for a chainsaw motor being used in something other than a chansaw. O)

The UT99 ripper does have a magazine below it. It's shaped just like the pickups.

alright so it isn't warped in,it is expanded outward.
Meh,either way it just doesn't look right.

That'd be ChaosUT2004. A very, very good mod.

Well, here's a stupid idea.... Using one of the foam disc guns --I don't know what they're called-- instead of the normal ripper model

*reads reply above*
You're new here aren't you? I'm usually the one to make such suggestions
*remembers paintsword*

Anyhoo, The disks can be ridiculously thin and propelled by electromagnets (like a railgun) and due to high pressure at the front and low pressure on the back it does not need to touch you to cut you (I think this is right... Anyhoo railgun slugs don't need to touch you to cut you, I cannot remember exactly why)
*gets slapped*
Back on topic! the reason why I went on about "how it does not need to touch you to cut you" is that this means that the diameter of the disks can be smaller.

Conclusion
The disk don't have to be as large as they were in UT:99 (talking about deployed disk) and could be less than 1mm in thickness meaning you can get A LOT in one clip.
SO, it would not need to be cumbersome (there would be ridiculous chaos with this gun meaning it could not be automatic and effective).

Mal

P.S If not a handheld gun, one would go really well on a BW vehicle (the Thor tank is getting lonely :P )

it throws discs :D

the 2 engine thingys on the bottom spin the disc and load it intot he grav field thingy, which it is then shot out of... i guess, i dont really understand half my work :P

I assume the hole in the gun's rear (shown in the top left picture) is where you stick your hand in order to actually fire the things, and that the grip is the part on the right hand side of the picture in the 1st column, 2nd row?

One thing I got to say is that perhaps you should replace the stack with a standard magazine. Just have a big box of discs slot in there where you got the stack.

Also, lose the discs. Don't bother with serrated edges, just make them lke sharpened frisbees.
