OK, I've played BW offline for a while, and I've come up with a few ideas for weapons, some more feasable than others. I've narrowed my ideas down to the best two: the MPAR-90 and TEC-10. The MPAR-90 (The Multi-Purpose Assault Rifle) is an assault rifle based aesthetically on the SIG SG 552 It would have stats similar to the M50, but does more damage, and has a smaller clip (25 rounds). For a secondary function, the MPAR-90 is outfitted with a handheld short-range mining laser. Primary fire is bullets, secondary is laser. Weapon special adjusts the iris on the laser. A 'Wide iris' makes the beam really large, but drains the battery really fast (Think the Venom's laser) A 'Thin iris' makes the beam last for longer, but deal less damage (Think the Glock's alt-fire) Firing Wide would last for a second, firing Thin would last for 5. After which, the battery is drained and takes 12 seconds to fully recharge. The TEC-10 demolition pack, otherwise known as the Tactical Explosive Charge, is a timed explosive device. Planted in the same way as the FP9A5, the TEC is perfect for precise and well-timed attacks on enemy forces. All forces are issued with 3 packs to start with, can carry up to 8 at a time. They are also issued with a Charge Proximity Signal Transmitter, or CPST, which is used in conjunction with the pack, much how the trigger works with the FP9A5. Using the Adjust Fire mode and Weapon Special buttons, the timer on a pack can be set for anywhere between 1 and 10 seconds. However, the timer does not initiate immediately after planting. Instead, the pack will wait until it no longer detects a CPST unit within the blast radius. Additionally, the pack can be set to pause the timer when it picks up a CPST with the Reload key either prior to planting or whilst the pack is ready (ie, not counting down). When the timer is active, the pack has a distinct flashing light. Primary fire places a charge, secondary fire toggles the CPST on/off. |

Some cool ideas, though conceptually, I don't quite get the Assault rifle. For example, why would there be a mining laser on an assault rifle? Is it for like a Military Engineer Corps? Also, the iris part of the laser seems a bit backwards. When you say thin iris, I thought that meant it would be more focused, therefore causing more damamge and possibly faster ammo usage, while wide iris being the opposite. Don't get me wrong, I love the general idea of the gun, its just that some of the aesthetic details for the laser don't really make sense to me. As for the tactical explosive, sounds cool, though I'm a bit confused at parts. Though its a bit late and I'm pretty tired from all the paintball I was playing today, so I'll give it another read in the morning. ![]() Some good sounding stuff though, and you're right, thiey do sound quite feasible, since they are fairly simple and straight forward. Would be interesting to see in BW some day.

In response to your queries, I figured that a larger beam would do more damage than a small, thin one, but wouldn't last for as long. As for the story behind the laser, I was thinking of something along the lines of miners attaching the lasers to their rifles in order to defend valuable mining sites, and the idea catching on. |
