The old lightning gun used to be much better. It never attacked the floor and always got the enemies.
Sadly the devs decided it was too overpowered and nerfed it into what it is today.

I think that the Lighting gun is somewhat Underpowered... yeah, I know it is a spammy weapon, etc, but the lighting arcs JUST CAN'T HIT ANYTHING. ok, perhaps it was exaggerated, but it's difficult to hit something with it. even when you want to kill ONE monster(yep, I was playing Invasion before, but it's also similar in botmatches) the lightning misses the target... It is powerful against masses/hordes of monsters... but the problem is that sometimes I'm killing 7 monsters hitting all of them(which I admit is REALLY cool) and suddenly the lighting arcs begin to hit the floor instead of the monsters. perhaps we could modify it and make the lightnings hit more often? and once they lock on the enemy they stay to kill that enemy and don't change to hit the floor? |

Actually, some finesse is required now with the lightning gun. Formerly, there is no way you can tell me it wasn't overpowered, and the RS devs got the message, so they did this. From what I remember, you need to "paint" the targets you wish to zap with the Alt fire, and then the arcs will be more likely to hit them. My theory in their thinking is that red lightning is of an opposite charge of the regular lightning. Being struck by that charges you one way, and therefore attracts the oppositely charged lightning. I personally think that the system needs some work, but if we can expand on this and make it a bit more practical, it should do the trick. |

So that's how it works... Still,I'd like someone cough up the old method of resetting the lightning gun to the old version 2 edition. In fact I was going to say something about that... |

buuut how I managed to kill these 9 zombies with the lightings?  maybe I "painted" one, but not all of them. but now that you mentioned it, I think that this system may be interesting! but instead of paint with the slow red lighting, what if special(laser) could paint targets? It would balance the gun and still make it useful. perhaps the special showed a Laser and once hit a target it can be electrocuted. it also avoid that "entering in a room and spamming lightings. now you need to mark you enemies to have a chance against them. this allows some time to the enemy react against the Lighting guy. |
