Ballistic Weapons is god. Pure and simple. However, what if we were to make god...better? Here are my ideas for guns that could be created for Ballistic Weapons, that hopefully do not seem too re-hashed or impossible to make.
----------------------------------------------------------

Cryokinetic Harness Gun - "The Skald"

Primary mode - Similar to the flamethrower, the Skald would shoot out a cloud of extremely low-temperature coolant, super-compressed in order to cause the most harm.
Secondary mode - Also like the flamethrower, this would shoot out pure ammo - in this case, it would be pure coolant. Sucks to get flash-frozen, huh?
Special Effects - Given that this would be a "frost" based weapon, obviously it would slow the opponents down, perhaps also causing lingering damage at the same time.
Description - A reverse-engineering of the flamethrower, scientists have developed a method in which to store a super-compressed coolant. Originally used in food processing, after one of these was used to critically injure a man with frostbite (requiring the amputation of his leg), this weapon was put into combat.

Sonic Rifle - "The Banshee"

Primary Mode - Fires off a devastating beam of ultrasonic sound, causing much damage to the opponent.
Secondary Mode - Lets loose a sub-sonic beam, causing disorientation in the enemy.
Special Effects (if possible) - Ammo pickups do not help this weapon; rather, ammo regenerates over time.
Description - Originally used for excavation, it was discovered that the sonic waves of the Banshee can cut through human flesh just as well as stone. An echo effect that was used to discover gemstones through the rocks has also been found to cause disorientation, nausea, and headaches in the miners. Now discontinued as a mining tool, the Banshee lives on as a weapon in the right hands.

Nanotechnologic Targeter
Primary Mode - Launches one nanobot-based round. This round is similar to a bee - it will seek out a target and attack it until one or the other dies.
Secondary Mode - Fires off a "drone bomb" - a proximity mine that will release five nanorounds when a foe goes near it.
Special Effects - Same as the Banshee.
Description - Ever hear of nanotechnology? This gun converts matter from the atmosphere into nanobot-based drones. These drones are little more than nuisances - small, weak, and plentiful. However, when you don't have to worry about running out of ammo, who needs power?

Now I'm going to shut up and see how these ideas fly. If people seem to like them, I'll post more - otherwise, well, I'll keep my beak shut. Oh. I have NO talent with modeling and little with texturing. And coding? All I can do is HTML. Otherwise I'd make these on my own :D

I'm really diggin' the Banshee. That idea sounds pretty damn cool, and would make for an interesting concept to try creating actually.

Like the skirth sidearm? that should be possible...

I love the ideas, especially the "Nanotechnologic Targeter" (can I just call it the Nano gun for short?) although I think the secondary fire should release a swarm of nanobots which seek after the last person hit with primary fire. sort of fired out like the rockets from a peacemaker...

P.S I'm gonna learn to mod over the summer, I've already got a list to do, but I would not mind giving some of these a shot if that's O.K

Yeah, these are well done. I especially like the banshee, not every day you see a sonic-based weaponry.

I'll admit - the Nanotech one is loosely based on one of the weapons from the original Halo. Raziel, your idea works too. Or it could be two firing rates; a semi-automatic and a fully automatic that depletes the nanobots quickly.

And what about...a Thompson Machine Gun; A.K.A. Tommy Gun? Not the most practical weapon out there, but damn, it would look cool!

P.S. - Raziel; if you think you can do them justice, you're welcome to give it a shot!

Whoo, didn't realize the Banshee would be such a big hit! I originally came up with the idea in conjunction with a sunlight-based weapon called the "Helios", which would double as a blinding device. However, you guys already have the VipeR or however it is spelled, and that seems kinda light-based.

Much of what I would think of is already in BW, sometimes modified from what I would come up with, but there nonetheless. Other quickie ideas would be an acid cloud-based gun (kinda covered with the toxin grenade, but more flamethrowerey :D), a biological insectoid based version of the Nanotech Gun, a tranquilizer pistol/rifle that could fire different types of darts, and perhaps *gasp* a crossbow.

Like that acid thrower on C&C:Renagade? that was awesome!

My simple response - I play Fallout, Perfect Dark, UT2004 with BW, and fantasy RPGs too much. All of these have given me inspirations to weapons and what, in my opinion would make for "the perfect shooter" :D

Not Fallout 3, my good sir, though I do have Oblivion. Fallout 1 and 2. I doubt 3 will run too well on my computer anyways.

You ever played fallout tactics? I much preferred it to Fallout 2... but then again I hated fallout 2

No to Fallout Tactics, yes to JKII. But we seem to be getting a little off topic, neh?

I was meaning to go somewhere with that, completely forgotten what though
it was something to do with a melee fighting style similar to JK:JA for BW... but I guess it would be easier to put BW into JK:JA rather than the other way around

Raziel

P.S even that was leading off topic... Don't reply to this! Ignore it!

Eh, never thought much about melee weapons for most FPSes. Though a good combat style would be a godsend.

Oh yea - joke idea. A slingshot ^___^

Post subject:  Re: The Kestrel's Nest - Gun ideas from the resident newb.

As simple as a slingshot might be... it could prove extremely tactical with different ammo loads. Lets see what I can come up with here!

Stone - standard thing, it just does a small amount of damage unless it's in the head. LOTS of ammo here! :P

Acid - where ever it lands, it splats open and releases some acid that can corrode a player's body for quite the lingering damage over time. Water neutralizes this. Low ammo.

Explosive - the small explosion it creates is useful for taking down unarmored opponents, considering if you actually hit near them. Decent amount of ammo.

Incendiary - similar to the FP7, it'll release a plume of fire that covers an area. Landing a direct hit on an opponent makes for a very long lasting fire, but water neutralizes this. Low ammo.

Thermobaric - small as the ball might be, the explosion isn't what kills, nor the fire. It's the lack of oxygen an opponent will have when this lands a direct hit. If it doesn't hit an opponent, it's only worth the fire that it caused, like an Incendiary round. Very low ammo.

Smallest nuke we got is suitcase sized. EMP though... heh, yeah, I forgot about that. Plus, thermobarics are much more efficient than nukes!

Just quickly reading this, i realize i am completely out-matched in terms of ideas. Oh well, i kept thinking of stuff like from UT3, like the minigun that pins ppl, or the rocket launcher that's a nade laucher at the same time. Ya know? stuff like that. Oh well, GOOD JOB MAN!!! :good: :good:

Umm... no offense but what do you expect when you play UnrealTournament2004?
But I do agree a nuke stone would kill the user 9/10 (the 1/10 times is where you are at the top of the tower on toran shooting down)

P.S what sort of arc would this have? (also could it have the arc displayed like on GoW?)

Hmmmm...anyone play The Legend of Zelda - Oracle of Ages? If so, you would know about the Seed Shooter - it's a slingshot meets hand cannon. You put your slingshot-applicable ammo in, and BAM! You can fire it!

And while rocks are nice, I've always preferred the thought of ball bearings myself.

This is turning out to be kind of interesting. What started as a joke suggestion for a slingshot can evolve into a serious gun idea? Hell, it could be a generic utility tool - but now I'm getting ahead of myself. This isn't Thief or Majora's Mask after all.

The ricochet effect would be hard to mod (I imagine)... Dibs on gale seeds!

P.S I always liked the bigeron sword...

Well, there was a custom Razorjack mod for UT2004, and that had ricochet, so it might be easier than we think! ^___^
