Would gyrojet weapons be a good idea?

For anyone who are unfamiliar, they are old ideas of rifles and pistols than shoots small rockets intead of bullets. The rifle rockets are of 19.05mm caliber. The perhaps biggest issue with them was the time it takes for the rocket to gain maximum speed. The rocket has to accelerate and is pretty harmless at point black range. They have little recoil and better accuracy on long distances compared to bullets. I don't know if they were explosive or simply rocket proppelled solid bullets.

In game it would simply mean a gun with low recoil rifle which projectiles has good accuracy that gains speed over distance. At close range it would do very low damage, over distance with speed it would do pretty high due it's caliber.

Yes no?

Here is a picture what they looked like. I myself would like a high tech look though.

Just some ideas for rocket varities:

Standard- non-explosive rocket.
Explosive- kaboom!
Incediary- fiery fury!
Smoke- not only does it hurt, it will blind and suffocate you!
Probe- sticks onto the enemy and after a few seconds, it starts digging into him, dealing high damage under a few seconds (over 100) causing large amounts of blood to burst out, and then stops. See it as a Cerebral Bore, but without the homing and it can target any bodypart.
Flesh Bomb- Anyone who have played U4E knows what this is. The player needs to find a medkit or otherwise heal himself as he and his vision slowly turns red, and he ultimately burns to a crisp, together with everyone around him.

Making the "super" types of ammo appear very rarely or in a small quantity for each ammo pack ensures balance.

Aye, I like the idea. Some people might complain due to the lack of brass, but I think it's a well balanced and fresh idea. I like when my guns goes boom far away.
