Okay, i had an idea on how this might work.

We dont know EXACTLY How we could make a plasma gun but, if plasma is the 4th state of structure
maybe it can be like a shape shifter, shifting through solid liquid and gas if the right voltage is applied.

if we made a gun that applied this voltage we might be able to make a plasma gun, that fires a beam
and a solid shot.

or even a spray of plasma that ignites.

Plasma is a delicate substance we use it in tv's and many other stuff but, in scifi and fallout
plasma is used in guns, it may be hard to make a plasma gun since it has a weird nature,
its a tricky substance to work with, but plasma is the 4th state of matter meaning it could be anything it could be solid liquid or gas if we want it to be.

so the gun will have plasma magazines and will be controlled using voltage, the plasma shot will be directed using a laser on the gun, or not if you prefer a faster inaccurate shot.

I dont know if just stupid but this is my theory on Plasma weapons.

Last I knew Plasma was super heated ionized gas. Plasma cutters work by sending down a short, powerful electric arc and a stream of super high pressure air of some sort blows a clean hole into the metal.

Plasma is not in some state that can be solid, liquid, or gas, interchangeably, last I knew. Its just the next step after gas.

My working theory on how plasma guns work is that since the plasma will have an ionic charge, it can be manipulated with magnetic fields. Plasma bolts are super heated ionized gas encapsulated somehow (magically I think) in a magnetic field to keep it coherent.

It is propelled forward with some sort of magnetic pulse most likely.

Fluorescent and neon lights work with plasma, the energy produced depends on the type and the velocity of the gas.
It is possible to encapsulate it.

Gravity maybe?

have ionised plasma spin in the gun and when its fired it'll maintain its own Gravity so to speak
that'll work in space maybe

The barrel will have to spin at near 100,000 Rpm
thats near 160 revolutions Per Second!!

The US Army already made a Plasma Weapon,

It was on some alien invasion program on the Discovery channel.

Ionized gas can be stabilized electromagnetically since ions are polarized gas
However if it hits a solid surface the ball lost its stability and explode

How does it remain stabilized once it becomes a projectile though?

How would it stay charged if the flow of electricity gets cut off.

Yes because the polarized ions have different polarities who makes them being attracted to each other.

It would using Electromagnetism, so it stays as a projctile.



it wouldnt but in that case, the electricity would get cut off because it would run through the plasma, only a emp would knock it out, even then the plasma would still burn when it hit someone.

We already have plasma weapons in game, so just use that tech.

If we can figure out how all this works, we could probably make lightsabers. lol

How would you keep the magnetic containment field?

Wouldn't it just be a hot gas projectile if the electricity was cut of.
I have a small plasma cutter, it runs on 110V Max Amps 20, no electricity no cut.
It dosent take a lot of power to make it very potent, but with out it, it isn't nothing.

Real Plasma cutters are very different from sci fi plasma weapons.
Sci fi plasma weapons uses ionized gas, who are pretty much stabilized by the attraction of positive ions and negative ions which are projected electromagnetically.
if it's to have a blowtorch plasma cutter or an inverter one you need a rocket

as to what Plasma is, by Definition it is either the electron shell that has been striped from an atom, or an atom that is stripped of it's electron shell, (eg. a lightning bolt is plasma) it is incomplete atoms to be overly simple
