It's been mentioned before, but so have the flamethrower and powerful handguns, so wtf... :silly: An M14-esque oldskool rifle with scope and silencer, 7.62x51 mm 20 round mag, semi auto fire, about 25DP per body hit. Considerably less muzzle flip than the .50 sniper, but enough to keep things interesting. Actually, this would be a kind of 'assault sniper rifle', as you could run around in unscoped mode and quite effective cap people left & right with rapid semi auto fire. Hell, might even add burst and full auto for good measure (Ruger mini 14 style). |

Sounds much cool. A gun like this is already high priority in our list. The silencer idea sounds very interesting... It would be the kind fo sniper rifle you can still kill people with when not scoped in at long range... |

Yep, there's something immensely satisfying about blasting people with silenced semi auto rifle fire at close-medium range, especially if the sound effects are right. Don't know why, but it's a real treat (imo). |

I love silenced guns, satisfying kills, but if the sound is loud and cool enough, it can even beat the satisfaction from silent kills. But your idea sounds neat, and I bet RS will do a perfect version of the M14 with great sounds.

Why do you say that? Because the silencer directs the bullet better than the barrel itself? Maybe add a silencer item? That you can put on every single barreled gun? |

Ha funny thought Silenced Shotgun!!  I think the Pistol and assault rifle would only get the silencer, than again how would you put it on the assault rifle since its sepcia ability is already filled up? |

Remember, this is unreal tournament, and BW is semi-realism...

That's why we need a separate silenced & scoped assault rifle. Afaik the pistol doesn't have a special function, but putting a silencer on it would make it unacceptably weak imo. In BW silencer = less power. For the M14 that wouldn't be a problem though as it fires 7.62x51 mm rounds which are quite powerful, even with a silencer (presumably). Also, you could take it off with the special key. At least, that's how I would do it...

Don´t you mean the silencer reduces the power of the audio rather than the bullets? :S |

Afaik it does both. It certainly does IRL... In Tango Down and YARM, two other great semi-realism mods, silenced weapons are also weaker. |

Yes, I can´t really judge this because I hardly know anything about guns. :S |

i think a another silenced assulet gun wouldn't be that practical, their already one so we don't really need another! |

We have a silenced machinegun. But what about the almighty sniper rifle, the king of stealth? A silenced pistol would be nice too, maybe a small 9mm one? Of course alt. fire would add/remove the silencer. The more variety of guns and gameplay elements, the better.

silencers really do weaken gun in reality, and limited their range to only a few meters (20 or so).. thats why a sniper rifle with silencers is not to good.. as for the assault/sniper thing that we want in, if it has a silencer, it will definetly be switchable;) |

That can depend on the gun´s design if I´m not mistaken. So a very powerful sniper can be good at long range even with a silencer. But I´m not sure if this make sense. :S |

Yeah, switchable would be perfect, could use the special function key for that. Post edited by: Redshift, at: 2006/04/01 05:23 |

Those shotguns are relatively incompatible Redshift...i only glanced it but, really. Did you know that a .410 isn't a measurement in any gauge at all? It means .410 caliber, which, for a shotgun, is VERY weak. Measured in a gauge, a .410 would be a 67 gauge, but that wouldn't be proper, so no one ever calls it a 67 gauge. And although one of those is a 12 gauge, it says it only take up to 3" shells. When I hunted turkeys today, I used, and always will because you pretty much have to, my dad's 12 Gauge Magnum Shotgun, and my ammo was 3 1/2" mag shells with turkey load shells, which have much more gunpowder. Very powerful...haven't felt the kick yet because i didn't get a shot, but it's supposed to be very...ummm...not so good. Still, I didn't know there were silenced shotguns. Except in Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, the shotgun had a bug where it made no noise. EDIT: My grammar was atrocious...stupid keyboard sometimes double inserts letters. Quite old. Well, the silenced shotguns weren't a serious suggestion, or even a suggestion period, so it's really a moot point... But yeah, I'd certainly like to shoot one sometime, just to hear what it sounds like.
Btw, am I the only one who thinks that the M763 pump shotgun is a bit weak, certainly when compared to the M290 double barreled one? I often have to shoot people repeatedly before they go down, even at relatively short range. Maybe it should be upgraded to, say, a 10 gauge magnum? Now it's just a somewhat slow and weak gun, so I always use the M290 (and sometimes the MRT6) as a flak cannon replacement... |

That shotgun is weak? I usually kill any enemy in one or two shots when close to them. And it is even deadlier when using the new iron sights. |

yeah it must be crazy with the iron sights!! I usually kill people in 1 kill or sometimes 2 (from a distance its 3) hits! |

Yeah but if you're mainly gonna use the shotgun close up, the M290 would be a better choice. It's pretty devastating at close range, sometimes it blows away multiple bots if you do a double. The M763's effectiveness at medium range doesn't really compare to the other shotguns' effectiveness at close range imo.

Yeah, the double shotgun does devastating damage even in medium distance. |

Yeah, each shotgun has its own strength and weaknesses. I preferre the M763 for medium range and the handy melee attack, plus reasonalbe reloading. THe M290 is devastating in close and decent a biut further away, but takes forever to reload. The MRT6 is crazy close up and useless at range, but its huge spread and rapid reloading let you move and fire like a maniac. |
