Here are a few ideas... Hopefully RS can do them if they have time to spare... 1. A map that has some sort of mine field where the ground actually buries the mines players place on it. Plus, it can have preset mines at the start of a round, so players don't have to fill 'er in. 2. A house map... sorta like CS_Mansion of Counterstrike fame, but MORE detailed. The one thing I hated about CS_Mansion is that it doesn't look ANYTHING like a mansion AT ALL. RS are a couple of pretty talented guys, so I can assume that any map they create will have choc-full of detail and hidden surprises. Well... that's all... |

hmmm.. a mine field of invisible mines might be frustrating there would have to be some way of sweeping for mines or something..
mansion could be cool.. havent seen the CS one.. i have some UT2k4 map of an art gallery or something.. its pretty damn detailed

If we'd change the mine-field one to a map like a warzone, with bunkers, beach and just the things that you see on a warzone back in the early 20th century, I'd love it.

I acctuly have an idea of how the mine field could work from my hour of messing around with unreal edit for unreal eninge 1.5 form my fooling around i'm pretty sure you can make "sheets" the player can walk but not see threw as "walls" and i'm pretty sure the same thing can be done with floors, for the mine field there should be designated areas that have the floor a little lower then normal (the size of a mine) with these "sheets" covering the hole, so when the player deploys a mine in these holes they can't be seen (as it's covered by the sheet) though the players feet would be invisable in these patchs, and as for marking them howabout a skelton with a mine on a small sign thats stuck in them though i may be mistaken that these "sheets" are in the unreal eninge i did fool around with other eninges a bit |

You can do that with UT2004's engine. That could work, but you would have a balancing issue. There would probably be aa incentive for the players to go in to the mindfield, like a powerful weapon or damage amp. The problem with this is that the first person who goes ther grabs the goodies, then logically he'd put mines down there to keep others out or to set traps, right? If that person spams that area with mines, he has complete control over that area, because he can walk in there but no one else. Of course, you could try to destroy the mines, but then you'll use up probably some explosives and quite possibly risk killing yourself if you are not careful. So, if anyone does this, they need to make sure that it is done right so no one could gain complete control of the minefield. I like the concept, though. |

It would be better if there were preset mines in the field, just to give a challenge to anyone who wants to take over it. And once s/he sweeps it over and takes the loot, that's when s/he can start planting his/her own mines. |

Thats what I was thinking. Make it have mines maybe spawn randomly in the area somehow? Also, I don't think the mine pickups should be near the minefield, either, for balancing purposes. |

could make for an interestign amp.. although i think certain arena maniacs wont like it then again, we need maps for people with more tactical styles..
