I think it would be cool if we would have somekind of really big sniper map or something like this...something in the city would be cool, and I would like it best if there would be something in the desert where you can hide at a lot of spots....

Thanks to small player scale, almost every map in Ut2004 is suited for sniper gameplay. The onslaught maps are especially.

Try a game of ballistic deathmatch on an onslaught map. (yes you can do that) You might get what you are looking for.

of course im sure such a map could be easily created.

CTF-Face3 is fun for sniping, but then you got to like CTF :P

It's true that, relatively to the players scale, every map is suited for snipering. But, players are REALLY fast when dodging around the map like I do. I can get from one side of rankin to another in very little time.

Sniper gameplay only works outdoors from my point of view, not too many maps in the default game have that feature.

Hmm...

Sniper maps are just better outdoors, because you have multiple advantage points.

Ctf maps are by far best sniper maps.

but remember BW slows down the speed of the game, particulary when hauling heavy sniper rifles.

Maps like Roughinery, albatross, gael, oceanic, trite and others will be bad for snipering.

Maps like Idoma, tokara, goliath, morpheus and sulphur are open enough to allow long distance shots and exclusive sniper battles are common on them.

But to me it seems odd to be sniping with the typical rifles in maps like Morpheus. I'd see it as more fitting to use something between a sniper rifle and a railgun. Urban maps are something I love for sniping, especially if you can go to upper floors inside buildings.

With ballistic sprint activated, BW is much, much faster than vanilla UT. You can literally fly through the map. I've attacked people, retreated from the fight, ran around and attacked them from the complete opposite direction within a span of maybe 3 or 4 seconds. Needless to say they were very confused.

BW sprint is fun, but can you shoot while flying trough the air accurate enough? Or do you spray em with the minigun? XD

I removed the minigun from Loadout gametypes, so no to that. It would be rather impossible to fly with it though, considering the speed reduction.

I try to do most of my flying is out of sight of my enemies, or make sure I don't stay out there for too long. Considering the speed at which you move, you don't really give the other guy enough time to rough you up too bad (unless he has that damnable rail gun)

And no, flying through the air really doesn't have too much of an accuracy penalty in my experience. It's especially easy if you use a gun with laser sights, or the MRS138 with its tac-light.
