Some of you probably seen the fading corona's of several games, where you exit trough a door from a dark piece of level and enter a bright and shiny outdoors. That corona which is in the door, fades away when getting closer, and it is also invisible from the bright side. To replicate this for UT2004, I've tried making the normal corona's and something that blocks the corona's but not you. This worked, you could move trough the hallway and you would see a bright light when you were in the dark hallway. But, the corona's won't fade and this requires scripting. I have no idea how to script this. If this new light actor would be made, I could put it to very good use in DM-B-Ancient. A nice thing to make it do is that the other side makes a dark corona. So that you can't really see what's inside the dark hallway because your eyes are used to the bright daylight. Another option I would love to see is that I can adjust the brightness of the corona, because the corona I've made in my map is far too bright, even from the far end of the dark hallway. Hints for mappers using this new light actor would be to place more then 1 in a doorway, because that way someone can block one light, but another shines beside him. Adjusting brightness is very important when using this. I would love to see someone helping me on the way to scripting this, or even take the effort of scripting it himself... I have little hope of making this thing without support from more expierenced mappers and scripters. |

Hmm, I dont know about a fading effect since coronas prefure to shrink when you get closer but as for brightness have you tried setting adding a slight transparency to the corona? Or you could also try using the "darken" colour mode. Create a new corona, set the texture to darken and put it behind the first to wash out some of the whiteness...if that does anything |

I've tried lots of stuff and it still looks crappy. I know that corona's shrink, don't think I didn't test it The thing im saying is that they should fade instead of shrink.
