When playing large maps, I encountered a problem: on long distances, the sniper rifle and railguns view shakes like hell, even when sitting. I was thinking of an action key: a key that does different effects based on your current actions. For example: you're running. You activate tha action key to toggle sprinting, wich drains your stamina bar. When you stop or press the action key again, you return to running again. Or... You are looking through your scope and press the action key to start holding your breath, so the view shakes less. The rest you know. Recharging stamina could be done by standing still and HOLDING the action key. Things like jumping, dodging, swimming or being underwater would all drain stamina accordingly. This may sound a little like a Frag.Ops (another UT2k4 mod) ripoff, but this would have a dynamic stamina bar in stead of AP's. (Action Points >_<') |

I've never noticed a problem with shaking scopes unless I'm moving. And, actually, the action point system is pretty cool, if not realistic. |

In real life, your stamina should drain a lot even when you are walking with a whole bunch of weapons dangling on your back. Realism just doesn't work in this fashion, so I think stamina should be unchanged. Although, draining it when swimming would be pretty neat. |

There's another one of those famous SB posts. . . I think the only improvement that needs made to the stamina system is making dodging drain stamina. I mean, jumping a few feet straight up drains stamina, but leaping ten feet sideways doesn't? That needs fixed. Other than that, I think stamina should remain unchanged. |

You play online? In big, open vCTF maps, at the range players are reduced to very few polygolonals, if you zoom in so much that they fill the scope for a comfortable partion, the view even shakes likee mad when crouching, I almost never get a kill at that range. |

Huh. Weird. Maybe I'll go test that. In the meantime, maybe you'll have to deal with not sniping at infinite range. |

Good for you. You get a cookie. I play on max settings too, so you've failed to impress me. Maybe the slight shaking at extreme range is intentional. I mean, I'm certain I can't hold a rifle still enough to keep the crosshairs on a target a half mile away. Sniper rifles don't have to have infinite range, contrary to the opinion held by most gamers. In fact, it's usually better for game balance if there IS some kind of effective range limit on sniper weapons. But I think this is probably a bug. and probably specific to you. I tested last night, zommed the scope in all the way, and there was no shaking. |

You know what is funny? Nowdays it is hard to buy a computer that is not capable of running UT2004 on holy shit settings. |

When I play vCTF I get lens shaking too. Just crouch, click the scope button and dont move an inch. Moving causes the accuracy to be lost. The only problem I have with sniping on servers is the bullet coming out while the gun is recoiling. I hope that bug will be fixed in the next version of Ballistic. Is stinks when the M75 does that, not only has your bullet totally missed your opponent's head, but now they know your location too. |

Back in 2004, however, it was pretty easy...

I play on max settings too, so you've failed to impress me. Excusez le mot, but you sir, are a b*tch. I was only trying to help by giving more information. The holy shit setting includes max LoD, wich could make the info I provided previously more usefull (if only a little). Why on earth would I brag about something like that? I really don't know what's up there in your skull, but I don't think common sense is one of them. Please refrain from b*tching in the future, then so will I. |

What sort of information does the post "Byw, I play on 'holy shit' settings." include other than a brag? And Carsomyr wasn't bitching at all, but you are, so I'd suggest that you keep your temper under 40 degrees. |

Dude, get real! Why on earth would I want to brag, about THAT? It's just that I can't stand people who make conclusions just like that. Only some idiot without a life would brag about playing a game on highest settings. |

You still haven't said why you posted that, if bragging isn't the reason.

If I had lower settings, those ultra-low poly models would appear at a shorter distance, there you have it. |

Uh, only one or two settings determine that. But I guess it'd be stupid not running on max settings if you can. But posting that in the middle of a thread wasn't a good idea, I also thought you were bragging. (if you call it bragging, since UT2004 is very low-end) |

Bjossi IS correct. I thought you were bragging. LOGIC RANT Mentioning that you play on max seting infers that you think that other people are not. Which means you're reminding everyone that your computer is better than theirs. Which COULD VERY EASILY have been about the scope issue OR bragging, OR both. /RANT Anyhow, that's what I thought. You SOUNDED like you were bragging. If you honestly weren't, then I made a mistake in misunderstanding you, for which I apologize. And if you weren't bragging, you made a mistake in being unclear. Anyhow, I didn't say anything really offensive, but you've decided to throw some pretty foul language at me. I am not amused. I take personal attacks pretty seriously. And this isn't the first time you've started jumping down people's throats. It's starting to bother me, not to mention a few other people. I think you're at least halfway inteligent and probably have things to contribute to this forum, so please do. Constructively, and politely. Thanks in advance, -Carsomyr |

THe point about sniper range is a great one. While sniper rifles can hit a long way away they are still a ballisic weapon not a point and shoot weapon like a lighting gun. The bullet has an arc and to far it's gona drop before you reach a target. The scope shake is just about right. If you zoom all the way in the slightest movement should cause you to quvier about alot. Add to that the guns recoil at full zoom Should make the sight picture fly off the target. That's why you make sure you got em before you pull the trigger. I tend to half zoom you will miss sometimes but it's real easy to aquire the target again. |
