maybe make some equipment you can choose for in the beginning of the game, cou can only carry one of those. 1. a small zoom lens in front of one eye. can zoom a bit up for more accuracy. 2. a infra red lens in front of one eye. gives a picture like the railgun but more clear and shorter range. 3. small ground radar. this lets you know where a enemy is on a short range 2-D map. 4. data transmitter. lets you know some things from your enemy you are looking at like: health, armor, current weapon and ammo, killing efficientcy. can't think of more right now. so.... what do you guys think? |

I think this is an excellent idea. I can't think of more equipment myself.

This would be an awesome addition to the game. Maybe have them instead of adrenaline, and throw in some equipment that would be similar to the abilites that already exist, like maybe something that gives you more stamina so you can run longer, something that reduces damage dealt to you, maybe a cloaking device that lets you turn fairly invisible to the naked eye (but not to heat vision or radar something like that) if you stand still long enough. |

Nah, I think this idea is more of choosing a bonus item that gives you an advantage through an entire match. But balancing this in bot-matches could be tough. |

A speed aug would be pretty nice. Or at least a speed enhancement.

Thats what I meant Bjossi, not a temporary thing, but lasting the entire match. I think adrenaline should be disabled with this, though. |

I can't imagine something like that would be hard to do, either. |

Cloaking device would be cool. Radar would work against it, And a Radar Jammer would be working against the Radar. Make a choice for players with the Equipment. Max Equipment: Number of choice. Ive got another idea for a equipment. Armor Regeneration up to... 100 or 150? ^^ |

Armor regeneration? That'd be one big ass trouble for the balance of the match. |

maybe it will regenerate to 50 and then no further |

Maybe have these abilities/items/augmentations run off of a slowly recharging energy pool. |

That could make it a little more balanced, but they would kind of be a little too similar to the regular adrenaline abilities in may opinion. |

but what about choosing how many Equipment you can have?

That would be pretty cool. Maybe make like three levels of upgrades for the thigs, and each upgrade would take an additional slot for their total equipment allotment. |

The general idea of special abilities through equiment is good, but very hard to balance... Imagine a player with a cloaking device who sneaks into the enemy base and deploys remote charges around the power core a minute before his team establishes a connection to it. When he hears the message "core is vulnerable", he presses the fire button and the core goes from 100% to 10% with one press of a button. That strategy works quite well against bots in ONS-FrostBite, for example, even without a cloaking device. (But I have to admit I didn't play BW-ONS very often. I would, if it wasn't for that stupid vehicle crosshair bug...) The only way to counter a tactic like that would be to leave a team member with a radar pickup in the base to detect infiltrators, but that would weaken the strength of your offensive team. Choices, choices... Another problem might be over-complexity. If an ability-system would be integrated, there would be a dozen possibilities right from the start, and increasing in numbers from there on. What if you'd end up with 30 unique abilities and no one would be able to decide what he should choose, because there are so many of them that they get confused... Imagine a game like Team Fortress with 30 classes instead of 7. You'd spend ages just to try out every one of them to find out which one suits you most. You'd need a fixed and not too big number of abilities to keep complexity low. To keep it interesting nonetheless there could be interactions between some abilities: If a player would have one energy pool and two equipment slots, the abilities could complement each other. For example, a "chest-bomb" device could be used defensively to take the players who are about to kill you with you. But when combined with a cloaking device or a line-of-sight teleportation device it could be used offensively, kamikaze-style. Well, that might be a bit too powerful... A different approch would be specializations, similar to Frag.Ops. Guys who prefer to blow things up choose the specialization "demolition expert" and would deal more and take less damage from explosives, the "professional sniper" could become cloaked when he's not moving or firing and gets a slightly higher accurrancy, etc... |

well... my idea was that you can carry only one equipment, cloak is fine as long as it isn't too good, and get lost with some "radar jammerz" anyways, i wasn't thinking about making 30 kinds of equipment, rather 6-10. |

That's what I think would be best, and for the cloak, make it so you can still be seen with the naked eye, but not so easily seen that a casual glance would spot them. |

Yes, thats sounds like something we want to do in the future... Non weapon type equipment that can be bought or picked up or gain some other way. Like vision devices and so on... |

You know what would be a cool equipment? Being able to buy/choose Gordon's HEV suit on the cost of slower running speeds.

I think the HEV's cousin, the PCV, would actually fit pretty well in Ballistic.

You know, one thing I never got was thatr Freeman's HEV suit was supposed to pretect him from hazardous materials, why in the world wouldn't it have a helmet to make it a sealed environment? |

That has been a huge controversy in the HL community for many years, and I have no idea how that went. But in reality, without a helmet he won't be very protected from radiation. |
