This is a somewhat different kind of feature request, as i am not actually going to request any features, but instead suggesting that Runestorm could perhabs adopt mini content releases.

I should think we have all noticed how this forum comes alive around every new bonus pack, new content allways breathes some fresh air and renewed enthusiasm into BW, regular content releases and bug fixes have allways kept games or mods alive, and RS have done an outstanding job keeping our interest in BW alive and well.

But there is one flaw in all of this, namely that RS only consists of a few members, thus the bonus packs do take some time to get done, more so because they are allways very ambitious, often containing several weapons with multiple new and innovative functions and whatnot, bonus packs will take time, there is just no changing that.

But that doesen't mean it could not be ammended to! there's also the small stuff, like mutators, mutators can add allmost infinate amounts of fun and replayabillity to the game, and at very little development cost, a mutator can often be made in a matter of days, houers even if it is something basic, and can be released as a stand alone plugin to BW very quickly indeed (whereas now, we wait a long time for them to come bundled with a much larger bonus pack or new version), they could even have a sepperate download section.

There's alot of cool little things that could be mutated into BW, things that would keep us happy and playing for much longer, and compared to a bonus pack, there is very little work involved.

I understand that this is the sort of thing that non-RS modders could also do on their own, yes, but it doesen't look like we have alot of them around, and thus, we are not exactly seeing alot of them unfortunately.

So it seems to me that this could really be worth the RS teams time, just take the "team loadout" mutator idea that has been floating around this community for months, that is something RS could probably make and release stand-alone within a week, but would add so very much to the game, to me, it looks like such an easy way to boost the popularity of BW, not much work involved, big and fast payoff in form of happy players, i really think this is worth considdering :)

Takes time to get done ?

With what they've done, I find they did work really fast for the team they have.
Plus, they work a lot with beta testers to bring us very high quality ! Takes a bit more time.

The RS team members have also their own real life, they can't pass all their life to mod BW and every little feature request even if takes only 2 or 3 days... So many requests.

And if done one day, they will rather release a bigger pack with many things of big quality I think !lol

But I understand what you mean with that post :d

Woah there, none of what i wrote was ment to be a complaint in any way, shape or form, i think thease guys are doing an amazing job.

I'm just sharing an idea i had, because to me, it makes alot of sense, making a mutator every now and then is not a big workload (and i certainly don't mean every little thing the community can think of, that's not viable, and would take too much time away from the big stuff), but such a release would certainly make everyone very happy for a long time, for the effort involved versus the payoff, it just seems a winning combination to me.

I'd like to see what kinds of interesting mutators they would come up with, something that can alter BW stuff in smaller ways than a full release or patch to the main files, that can just sort of be 'dropped in' like you describe.

Maybe even not exclusively BW-related things, even, maybe some general special effects improvements, something like that.

I'm sorry !sad what I mean't wasn't against complaint or so...

I was just trying to explain that the team maybe don't want to release those small mutators (or maybe if you pay them for it) because it takes a lot of time (not indivudually but all together) and is not directly BW related.

I guess they have something else in mind and with the coming of UT3 and everyone asking to port BW to UT3...

Woah, everyone certainly is not asking for a UT3 port!

Honestly, I'd rather see BW going with either HL2, or somehow CoD4 (or 5 :P)

YES.

Ballistic Weapons + Source Engine = WIN.

Give me an M290 and a swarm of headcrab zombies and I'll be happy.

I think I agree with source engine,as long as you watch those 'dependancies'(sry about spelling).
Having it require several source engine games would be a pain.

I saw one or two thread talking for a UT3 port or at least asking if it will :d

For HL2 hmm ? There are effectively some cool things in it !lol

I would be saying go with UT 3 or UE 3 only if I had a more powerful computer ! !mistrust

After reading the first post I have come up with a compromise, mayhap each pack can have a showcase weapon, one we get small progress reports on every so offend, whereas all the rest are under an info lockdown.
