Post subject:  YARM stuff into BW?

so i was prowlin for mods the other day and came across YARM. its quite fun, but i was wondering, if anyone would think about adding some of its featurs,like prone and all the charater models, but of course ask permission first. but i like most of the stuff in that mod, and allo of the weapons could go into a "modern pack" which would attracked even more people to BW. just a thought. plz dont shoot me down on this. its a great idea, i just need people to get behind me on it., plus if i could, i could get the coder from yarm. and he could join BW? just a thought.. anyway positive feedback only plz >.>

Not "shooting you down" on this, just pointing out what has been said many times before.
    BW only does original content

    if you want something to happen, you have to do at least some of it (that's even if a modder loves the idea), more likely that you will have to do most of it

    Most people on RuneStorm only reply if the post does not use text speak (txt spk)

Please, however feel free to start this project by yourself. There a number of great tutorials on this site to help people new to modding and alot of support if you really are stumped by a section of code. Others will join later if they want to see it complete (see Kelly's pack for example).

I would love to see a full crouch/prone system, so I hope that you do decide to take this project on.

Ask meowcat if he wants to mod for BW
it seems you can use the character models for BW if I recall, and then have access to the features for those

I actually wanted to create such features as climbing, balancing prone, leaning etc. leaning could be done with manual controll of animation and with probing nearby environment with some kind of shapes and traces. But maybe YARM implements it better, so it would be a good idea to first get to know how it works in yarm. But i have another thing to finish first. As suggested above, you could try initiate something to make it happen faster. If you are realy beginner with coding, i can tell you the basics (in that case, pm me your skype or msn address), but i don't know the architecture of stock ut 2004 classes very well.

Yarm does it for its own models.
the lean and stuff doesn't work if you use a non yarm player model.
I think even runestorm developers issued problems and that's why some third person stuff doesn't work I think

thanks for the feed back, im gonna try coding. i tried modeling, was ok at it but after an iccident, with version stuff. i gave up...and sorry about the "txt spk" its a bad habbit i know :P, and also BW isnt all about original content, jack carvers pack for instance. and i just thought i would bring it up for the fact that i want to at least try to get people behind it, im gonna ask meowcat if he would join the BW commiuty im sure he would love to see hie work implamented<---yea i know its bad. any way thax for the positive feed bad :)

yes i know, iv already pmed him about it. but h hasnt replied yet, must be busy. but i need ome help, im gonna take a crack at coding, and i need a list of things a need for it.

Here you can find stuff about language and things.
You could use an IDE such as WotGreal and the other wich i forgot, tough, for some reason i had not much luck with them. So now, i just use notepad (could be any text edit software) and Windows Grep (wingrep) for finding references to variables and classes in files.

you can compile stuff from command line, or you can make a batch file (assuming you are using windows). for compiling, type "ucc make". You will need some file, you may want to search for the use of "ucc batchexport ..." so you can export source files from .u files. However, the exporter doesn't work too good, so there could be a couple of mistakes. You should have ECE v1.1 for ut.

ok, so i got a pm from meowcat. and he would love to help. but he says that for prone we need prone models that use a custom skeletal rig. to allow the prone animation. :dance: i asked him if some one could ake a mut that made it so we use his player models with BW( who wouldnt want a ghilie suit :think: ) i await his respone

Won't the ChaosUT method of appending animations created for the default rigs work here as well? I am extremely interested in working prone and lean, as with prone and lean I will create a version to try to recreate CoD-style gameplay.

I think YARM has first-person death. If that could be implemented into BW, it would be incredibly awesome.

it's more easy to do than player movement I think
the mod mars wars has FP death
