OK. The much awaited BW hands are here at last! I've included 3 mesh files, and the 3 texture files. Meshes comes in: .max (v8 or later required). .obj (no rigging) .3ds (only right arm, no rigging) Textures are the simple .tga files: Default, red and blue. Hope this gets some great weapons going ![]() http://www.runestorm.com/PublicDownload ... ds-SDK.zip |

You can export the mesh, it's bones, skinning and animations in FBX format. But no rigging like constrains or attributes. Edit: I uploaded a maya version of the mesh. Bones and skinning works. Just rigg and animate. Now tell me that I am a good cat. meow |

Oh ok but i noticed another problem you scaled the other hands bones -1 and so it rotared invers. There is a tool called "Mirror Bones" that should make it right. |

Anyone have a way to get the hands openable in Maya 5 PLE? Kinda makes things a bit impossible to get into BW with the right set of hands if you can't import the hands... |

Hmm Maya 5 is very old... Why dont you download the 8.5 version? Cant you import the *.obj File ? If you can open it you just have to make the bones, that is not so difficult because in the file the bones are meshes. |

However, I don't have any way to export it from MP format to another format. In v5 PLE, it doesn't let you open any formats but MA, MB, and MP really... Kien's MB file won't read since it's not forwards compatible. Until I can get some way to figure this kinda crap out... I'll have to end up letting other people do the animations for me... I kinda did want to learn animations even with my computer being so crappy... |

I've got a start at getting them workable in Maya 5.0, but I got homework piling up on me in college, gonna need to free up some time. |

With a newer Maya version you can open all older versions. But when you want to open Maya 2009 Files with Maya 2008 it is possible with a small trick. Just go under "Open Scene" and then tick "Ignore Version". That should make it. This is very helpful if you are making a model in 2009 but only the 2008 support Actor X. I think it works down to Maya 8 but then they are too different. I also have the Hand for the Maya 2008 version so if anyone wants to have it. BTW I dont have these versions ^^, it would be cool if I had them.

While newer versions of Maya can open older files, no retail version of Maya can open ANY PLE version files. This prevents a company from purchasing one license, then making all their models in the PLE and exporting them using the single full version. You said you have a 2008 version of the hands? Would that be the PLE version or the retail version? If it's the PLE version, would someone out there mind making a non-PLE version (if possible)? Please and thank you.

Just wanted to ask, is there any restrictions / conditions on using these files to create weapons / anims? |

As far as I know, you cannot use them for monetary gain and you must give credit to the original authors. |

Blender rig of the BW hands right here. http://www.4shared.com/file/227577570/4 ... r_Rig.html Alright, I did not thoroughly test this, but with my shakedown run, everything seemed to be working. Some notes; the root bone, called base? Don't move it. The PSK/PSA exporter for Blender2UEd requires a root bone that doesn't move. So instead, move the bone next up in the heirarchy if you need everything to move. Next, the heirarchy is a bit different. There is a bone coming from the root that connects to the wrist. This makes the Wrist essentially the root bone for the arm. What this means is that you can make a weapon that is parented to the same bone the Root bone is connected to (the bone that connects to the wrist is the Root bone), and you can have the gun and arm move together easily. But if you want to make the right arm move seperately, all you need to do is move the right wrist. It will move independantly from the gun. Very handy. I think thats about it. Tell me if you have troubles or learn something I didn't know. |
