Post subject:  UT3 map WIP. [pics]

It's still very wip, but I'm gonna show some screens :)
I'm thinking to do a DOM map (maybe a DM variation too), which takes place in space and three different planets. In space there will be a space station with 3 buildings. each one will have a portal and each portal will take the player to a planet.


So far I'm completing the first building.

Notice these crates with blue details. They have physics (since I love physics) :)

The other side of the portal room. There is a shock rifle at the back of that particle accelerator/energy storage/ whateveryouwantnameit.

One of the entrances of a... don't know how to call it. It's a place where you can swin but it's not water. a spacevolume. However, I made it like a radiation zone, so you take damage. I'm not sure if I will make it damage the player or not. What do you think?

The other side after exiting the radiation tube thing. notice the lighting sparks. you will die if touch that electricity discharge.

outside, at the top of the building. Snipers' place. notice the satellite. at the side of it there's the redeemer. you need a jumpboots to jump there and grab it.

Outside. as you can see, very WIP. that thing in the background is sort of a gravity creator, so it is not 0 gravity.

Oooh, very fancy looking. I like that radiation hallway, I remember one of the old HL1 maps had one of those.

By the way, does it have any giant spacestation turrets?

At the moment no. Maybe I will place one. Maybe the other building is a turret... Yeah I think I will do that :)
I'm thinking to place some spaceships flying around the starbase. There's a lot of nice static meshes for that!
btw, I find the UT3 Editor way more easier than the UT2004 one. BSP is a lot more simple to do. I even made some basic materials. But I still don't understood the particle editor. actually, what you see in the portal is only SMs with some cool materials. there's only some particles in the very middle of the portal.

That really does look impressive Glos! I might have to get UT3 to see what I can make with that editor... do the basic controls of UEd3 transfer over to UEd4?

I don't know, Don't messed a lot with Ued3. In Ued4 I find it easier to edit brushes. Terrain is easier to make I think. My Ued3 terrain adventures never ended well. :(
But I think that movement is the same as Ued3.

Domination? Qu'est-ce que c'est? It's been ages since I played a good domination map. This one looks particularly slick. Except that on the PC I borrowed from my brother I can't see post-processing, so the radiation thingy won't be quite so cool.

I love physics too! All the good maps have physics objects. I tried to put them in but I haven't mapped for four years...back in the days when my computer couldn't process physics.

Darn implressive but I must ask... why does everything have to be so overdetailed and have so much pipes and be so dark and boring looking? I'm not speaking just for this map, I played the Deck map in UT3 and it's just the same. Why the over detailed look?

Don't worry, I will attempt to make a more colourful forest in the level ;)
well, since UT3 has nice graphics capabilities, I want to make the level like the stock maps. Without the insane desaturation, of course.
And more news: I did some sort of explosive crate(still need to improve the effects) and I am beginning to do the forest part of the map (after you enter in that red portal).
