I have a bunch of old maps I made some time ago for invasion/vehicle invasion/DM. I rediscovered them after Sgt. Kelly got me playing this game again.

Most of these maps are finished/aft-beta but were never released to the public, I thought I'd finally patch them up and let them be known.

Here's just small selection: (Sorry about the lazy links, the forum wouldn't load them for some reason)

Set in an ancient underground tomb which is illuminated brightly by a shimmering vortex of unknown energy. Invasion monsters only spawn in the center but bots still know where to go in order to get weapons (most invasion maps that try to restrict monster movement sacrifice bot support but I found a way to have both). There are plenty of barricades around the center where you can take cover and mount machine guns. There is also plenty of room for sniping. BTW, you can defy gravity near the vortex and reach the redeemer above it...but try not to get sucked in

Similar to Anomaly only even more enclosed. Monsters spawn in the pit only, but still fully bot supported. A fun map whenever Pineapples are involved. A button can trigger the pit doors to open which will empty the monsters into another chamber that contains...something that will put a lot of pressure on you

Plain cube map with a few karma actors and a garbage disposal pit. I originally made it so I can watch 50 bots nuke each other with ion painters in a tight map. Suitable for Junk War

Best played with vehicle invasion. Consists of 2 interlacing 'streets' that form a 'city block' though to be honest I have no idea what this is supposed to be. Monsters spawn in the streets where your manta's and tanks can reach them easily. Also contains 2 leviathans but they are hard to maneuver in the narrow streets. If things get too tough, you can hide in the indoor area's though monsters can follow you in there if you are not careful.

Best played with vehicle invasion. Based on the Citadel theme which I quite liked but I thought was wasted on a CTF map nobody played. Set in a huge dark fortress in a towering mesa with smaller mesa's surrounding it, each linked with bridges. Monsters mostly spawn on the outer mesa's and indoors. You can snipe from the towers, hold the indoors or drive around the outskirts

Alright, I'll file them over on ModDB when I get the chance.

I'd like to get some feedback on them though before I do that, so I thought I would give you guys a chance to play them first...I might release the above 5 here as beta on this site then post them at ModDB once I sort these other little issues like the lack of preview images

Loophole looks a little bland compared to the others, I know. It really should have been a city themed level from the beginning. But, its still great for strewing monster guts across all over the map with the manta :twisted:

By the way, these are by far not my only maps, just the most complete ones. I've got a few others to show, plus in addition to that I've made tons of maps where I modified other peoples maps I.E: better graphics, getter gameplay, VDM support, better bot support (Not the 5 that I showed you though, those are my original designs). I give credit to the original authors where credit is due but should I include those too?

Okay, I've been going through these levels, making sure none of them had any bugs left in them. Most of them just needed a preview image. I found one issue in Loophole were bots always got the leviathan jammed on the corner where it spawns. This problem pretty much comes down to the design of that area, it just isn't leviathan friendly.

So I'm going to retract that level until I re-do that spot. In the meantime I patched up one of my other levels as a replacement.

ONS-Darkness

Set on a space platform between two large frigates. The space platform provides the only source of gravity and pressure so you might find the gravity stronger as you go near it and absent further out

Players will have easy access to raptors and the idea is to get a space battle going. Keep in mind though that the raptor is generally not considered spacecraft so don't think you can fly out into the depths space...you might find that an attempt to do so will ease some...pressure...off of you.
There are more vehicles to be found on the platform

The platform hosts 19 powernodes in a grid fashion allowing for high customization and a huge range of node configurations. The fact that most nodes are in clear sight of each other also adds to the chaos.

I wasn't going to include this one earlier due to a few bugs but I just recently fixed those bugs now so it should be good. I really wish I knew how to model though, so I could create a proper static mesh for the frigates. At the moment they are built out of BSP and it shows :(

I plan on having all 5 levels ready by tomorrow

PS: Is there an image hosting service that this forum doesn't have a problem with?

I think a good idea for a map would be one where you have two big ships that are 20 feet away from each other and one above the two the idea being the space between the ships damages you by 10 health per second and the top ship has a redeemer or a hvpc 9000 on it ;D

its simple but its cool ;D

I could do that, just strip away the platform in Darkness, move the ships closer together, make it a VCTF map.

As for the middle ship I can just leave in the maps centerpiece and move it upwards. It already contains a redeemer inside of it

The maps are ready now. Just a few more play-through s to go.

its only there for 7 days, but i just need someone to check if they all work. I'm a bit paranoid that one of them is using a package that doesnt come with standard UT2004.

I don't know which one, so if a map doesn't show up and you log file complains "couldnt load X, missing file for package X" then tell me ASAP.

If its all cool then I'll host it somewhere more permanent

I downloaded them, no problems so far.
I still haven't checked to see if one of the INV and the VINV work yet.. I'll do that in a bit. Then, probably later today, I'll actually play through a couple full matches with which map.

WinRAR supports .7z and the compression ratio is significantly better than .zip, btw, being slightly superior to the .rar format.

I don't know about the example you have given, Azarael, but as a general rule, if someone double posts in the same day, that's when someone says something. Someone double posting to notify an update in their own thread is generally acceptable. No, these guidelines aren't written any where, but this is just a general thing I think most go by.

I took Loophole out when I noticed some bot support issues due to bad design.

I want to put some more work into LoopHole and release it later along with some of my other unreleased maps

I plan on releasing 4 more maps including my touched up versions of the classics: HoldTheCamp and Sandstorm (Full credit will given to their original authors)

Already did ;)

My version allows bots to navigate the camp while monsters stay outside and is also VDM. However the bots have trouble getting the vehicles around so that part still needs work. I gave Sandstorm the same treatment.

Nice. I like the crystal one a lot already. You should make a normal Death Match map and not just invasion maps.
