Post subject:  Ballistic Class loadout

I have an idea for a mutator similar to Loadout but instead of picking from every weapon in a certain slot, how about you make classes of weapons (Like making classes from Team Fortress or another class based fps.) to start out with (or keep for your life and prevent players from dropping weapons) So this means that players can only stick with weapons from a certain class or playstyle from a list that the server host makes.

I think closer to Battlefield-type. So, class-based play.

Also, doesn't YARM have something like that? Or is it a different mod? >.<

I'm talking about adding a mutator where you make classes to use in the game (for everyone) by picking the weapons they spawn with and making it so they can't pick anything else up. And they get something like the loadout screen when they join the game, but instead of that they get a dropdown menu with the classes that the host set up and they pick a class to spawn as.

Does anybody understand what I'm talking about or should I elaborate? And I found a mutator that prevents people from dropping weapons if that helps. Here's a simpler version of my idea: It's a mutator that has a menu for configuration before the game starts and you can type in a name for a class (think battlefield or team fortress) and then put the weapons in that you want them to spawn with (doesn't have to be limited to ballistic weapons, the list can have any weapon installed into ut2004) and when the hit the loadout button *or a custom one if necessary* they get a dropdown menu with one option: class: *class name, dropdown* and then pick their class. I'm new to modding and I'm constructing a Team Fortress 2 announcer pack for UT2004 so I don't know much about coding.

Yeah, I understand what you're looking for. Pre-set classes to choose from. I think I've experimented with a few mods that were able to provide that experience, but I don't remember their names.

Thank you. :) It would be great if you found that because Ballistic Weapons is my favorite game mod of all time (Next to Garry's Mod) and I have spent hundereds of hours in botmatches in other gametypes and using several different mutator combinations for near infininte replay and entertainment. I may make voicepacks for the tf2 characters when I'm done with the Administrator announcer pack. 8)

Yeah there's BF3, yeah there's SC2, but I need some time alone sometimes ya hear? :)

note' this may take awhile, because my archive its 21gbs, and im looking thru all the readme's i made for each file, because i can not remember the name of the mod......wish me luck!

well I would but every thing is in rar files...and my searching is very limited, but if someone could find that name id be able to do it like that.
On a side note, your very lucky my friend because a couple of days ago I was thinking about deleting the archive lol......... :think: because I do not have ut2k4 anymore, but I think ill keep it around for just these occasions.

....lol, dont get me wrong ut2k4 is one of the best, but i really didnt play it all that much anymore. iv been playing crysis series, ut3,fallout3 and nv, and also a lot of cod4, just because I like the fast paced unrealistic MP.

Sure, I play games like SC2 and BF3, but that doesn't mean I wont play all the oldies, I still play it whenever I get the chance, and to get away from the MP from time to time.

I have found a mutator that allows class based selection, it's called Species Statistics Plus and the mutator used for this is called Player Classes Plus. The only negative about this mutator is that I can't configure it, even when looking through my system folder. If anybody has this mod installed, please see if you can discover what file(s) contains the information that can be changed/added to change the teams (Medusae, Mercenaries, etc.) to whatever I want along with statistics and gear. I know it's possible, I just can't find the file to edit the values. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, yeah, I worked with that a bit. You'll have to know coding if I recall in order to get this to work nicely, but totally doable. I just wish it had provisions to give you a loadout choice within class restrictions.

Well its all a matter of editing values in code. No real coding knowledge needed. But if you know how to compile code its a snap. I can send you my old old source code for a start if you want. It needs lotsa work though.
