This thread is all about Ballistic Evolution, a feature that lets you play loadout where the gun choices are limited by your stats. I have been growing an evolution tree for a long time now with the goal of it being ideal for invasion games. I plan on it giving the player a large and diverse set of new options as the player progresses each invasion wave from 1 to 16 (or 25 like in my case). I have carefully ordered each weapon according to its effectiveness against invasion monsters. Even then it is far from perfect, it still has gaps in it where players don't see new stuff for a whole wave and other occasions where tons of weapons appear at once, overwhelming your options. Furthermore the tree's whole concept of balance comes from one mans opinion. There will be some things you will or will not agree with. Perhaps the community can help keep this tree growing straight and turn it into the best evolution tree for invasion gametypes ever. The Levels explained The evolution tree uses a 10 tier system. I divided all the weapons into 12 categories with 11 of those categories (0 to 10) representing a scale with 0 being the weakest weapons in Invasion to 10 being the most powerful weapons in invasion. As a rule, each level must be 60 seconds apart with level 0 having a time of 0 (immediately available) and level 10 having a time of 600 (available after 10 minutes). This of course stacks up when you scale the time with the evolution scaling mutator. The 12th category is for weapons that don’t really fit on the 0 – 11 scale. The categories explained Inside each level, the weapons are further categorized into 4 groups: Sidearm: These weapons occupy the 1st and 2nd loadout categories. They represent two gun holsters on your sides. Both contain dual wieldable weapons/grenades and any small firearm Sniper: These weapons occupy the 4th loadout slot and contains medium sized weapons, most are suited for long ranged Shotgun: These weapons occupy the 5ths loadout slot and contains medium sized weapons, most are suited for short range Heavy: These weapons are the large underarm, or shoulder mounted weapons. They occupy the 3rd loadout slot. Don't you love the weapon names that have absolutely nothing to do with their actual ingame names? I'll bet most people won't know what half of my prototypes are. |

Oops, I probably should not have assumed people here understand the class names (I almost always refer to each weapon by their class name, that's just how my brain works) I'll fix that and make the post easier to read, just give me a moment See, this is why I didn't post the INI settings just yet...I'll do that once we have a clearer understanding here |

Yeah, some of these names go through many versions before they get finalized. The M1911 (RS04) and M514 (MARS-2) are perfect examples of these. |
