As much fun as I have with BW against bots, I have a feeling this weapons pack would shine in a mode that sort of pits you against a ton of monsters or AI controlled enemies that aren't just deathmatch bots. Sort of like a 1-player assault or even some sort of campaign. Does anyone know of such modes that exist? I mean, invasion is...okay, but with monsters designed for the twitchy, double-jump-wall-jump play of vanilla UT2k4, it loses its sheen quickly and just becomes an annoying shooter

(Plus, nothing better than making ragdolls fly and bloodily splat everywhere =P)

Actually, that link was just for monsters. :P

But check this link maybe?

Largely I just like the BW reference in it. :D

Satore appears to be the author of monster assault, so there's a lead you can follow if the link above doesn't have results. I'd offer more help but I'm on my android at the moment and I don't feel like crawling through the webz.

Oh sweet, this is just what I was looking for.

If anyone can figure out one more thing...

I'm trying to add some of the better monsters linked above. In particular, the Doom 3 monsters addon. I have everything in their respective folders, but monster manager sees them. What am I supposed to do?

Edit: Actually, my game/monster manager can see them, my mistake. My only problem is trying to get it to work in MonsterAssault.

You have to add in the new monsters to the config files for monster assault and monster manager. Kind of a pain, but if you want it, you have to do it. Look for the readmes.

There are certain maps that are good for "singleplayeresque" gameplay. (sorry for the neologism :P ) The best is probably DM-Phonixcomplex.
As for monsters, what Xav gave you is the best place to go.
Then, if you would want an infinite invasion you could try the mutator "invasion everywhere". It lets you play with monsters on any map and any gametype. Playing ONS in a city? ow about turning it into a Zombie-infested city then... ;D That mutator needs special code lines for the monsters to work, if you want to use that with certain monsters just send me a PM and I'll write them for you. ;)

Finally, there is "Jurassic Rage", which lets you play against hordes of velociraptors (nice, realistic models AND ragdolls). It is a T/C mod but you can use the BW mutators aswell.

I hope that helps you. ;)

Whoa, yeah. Invasion Everywhere and that map is really awesome. Any other ragdoll-infused monsters?

I have zombies of nightmare and one type of zombie had ragdoll but I"m having a hard time figuring out which one it is.

There are also the OSM Adventure maps but the Ballistic Weapons don't always work on them.

yeah, if one can truly make a single player game for BW, that would be awesomeness.....

I might try it after my mapping skills improve.

yeah, if only if we can get a good mapper and scriptwriter.....

Scriptwriter as in coding or writing a storyline?

as in both story and making good map scripts, such as making a simulated battles and such.

That would be pretty rockin' to see a BW OSM Adventure. I had an idea for one where you were on a space station type thing, and there were demons and such in a doom-like fashion. But that's as far as I got. One thing about bw + osm is that monsters wont see you unless you shoot them or bump into them (I made a mutator to fix that) and bw weapons added in through BW swapper will spawn infinitely from weapon spawners and crash game. This can easily be fixed, as I think its the mutator itslef causing problem, so weapons added to spawner as BW weapons will negate the need for swapper and it shouldn't cause problems, or you could simply not use the OSM spawner and stick with regular spawning weapons.

I would recommend using the Doom 3 monsters or something from Iniquitos instead of stock monsters ince they aren't very flexible (few melee dedicated monsters, not much variety for different roles of enemies).

If someone would be willing to make a map for this I could probably help with coding tweaked/osm compatible monsters and such.

I'll make a map at somepoint, but I'm not sure when. An OSM adventure map is something that I've always wanted to do.

Sweet! It seems like if you got a good handle on tirgger events and bot pathing, OSM maps shouldn't be too difficult. Make sure you grab OSM Guantlet and read the notes scattered throughout it in the editor. And ask me if you need some monsters tweaked or whatnot. I can probably do some of that, as long as its just simple codework.
