I suggest guys to post ideas in the idea zone though, because with the amount of posts there most ideas have strong chances to be forgotten mostly considering the overall time of making weapons

The MP40 was always missing - until now !
And if the MP40 behaves like the one from the red orchestra mod, it TOTALLY fit in to Ballistic Weapons according to fire-speed, recoil and damage.

BTW can you use the "Klappkolben / Schulterstütze" (metal-butt) like the one from Fifty-9 ?

The word arrangement/compilation would be correct in german but afaik, the MP40 was official declared with a "Schulterstütze" in its manual:

Im born german, living in germany.
Kolben is piston/butt right.
But the situation is like that:

A Kolben is a Schulterstütze but a Schulterstütze dont need to be a Kolben. Schultersütze means Schulter - Shoulder, Stütze - Support/Rest. This can be the classical Kolben (fullmetal/wood butt), the MP40 stick or any other object which gives you the ability to rest the weapon on your shoulder.

Klappbare Schulterstütze can be rewritten to Klappschulterstütze - as i said, right word compilation. What you did is called (zusammengesetztes Substantiv).
In this case: Klappe, Schulter, Stütze. KlappSchulterStütze.

My shorting "klappbare Schulterstütze" comes from an- and abklappen (Zur Waffe anklappen und von der Waffe abklappen).
Correct long description would be: "MP40 mit an- und abklappbarer Schulterstütze".

So Basically Klappschulterstütze is correct as well as an- und abklappbare/klappbare Schulterstütze.
But Klappschulterstütze may (!) implicit it is foldable by itself since every german would refer to Klappstuhl (folding chair). German is somehow strange in this matters

If we want to make it correct, you and me, we just use "MP40 mit an- und abklappbarer Schulterstütze". This is definitely correct and cannot be misunderstood.

But this is now behind the topic itself.
Lets just hope this sucker is functional at all (an- und abklappbar ) and the MP40 itself don't shoot laser-bullets.

Of course you are right with that explanation, but in this case I would go for "Klappschulterstütze", because it is one word and therefore compact and not two words, which are harder to remember.

But for real - whether a stock is in itself foldable or is foldable with a single joint... isn't that... zweitrangig? (subordinate)

MP-40 or Fallschirmjägerge machine pistol.
FG-42 or Fallschirmjägergewehr 42 was a selective fire battle rifle.

Oh, the MP40 was not actually a specialty paratrooper weapon like the FG42 was. I just changed it's name for the purpose of BW.

Though, interestingly enough, we do actually have a variant of the FG42 in the works. It's called the FG50 and we've shown some pictures of it in the past.


Here are some of V10's notable weapon bases.
MP40 -> FMP-2012
FG42 -> FG-50 (Loosely. The FG50 is a .50 cal drum fed HMG.)
M4 -> MJ51
M92 -> T9CN (Again, loosely. There are no full auto berettas.)
UMP45 -> PUMA (Except the whole "It's an energy weapon" thing.)

Where did you get the FEAR voice pack in the V10 CTF video from? I've looked for it and I can't find it.

As ultimate coding challenge you could try to make it possible, to hold and shoot with the weapon around corners and above boxes. This would require animations and probably would look strange from 3rd person, but it would be incredible awesome too. Whenever there is a enemy, the weapon would "aim" automatically and spray the enemy.

But seriously:

Here is a cool feature: If not single wielded, you can use a flashlight on the left hand and shoot the weapon under heavy recoil with the right hand. I think abt this awesome flashlight: http://www.militaria-depot.de/wehrmacht ... rsatz.html

You could use and override the dual wield key to enable disable this feature.

As special 1 you turn on the flashlight and as special 2 you can flash the enemy like the AM67.

The firespeed should be somewhere less then the XRS10 but less recoil and more precision on distance (Comparable with M46 Jackal ?).

With all those, the weapon wouldn't be overpowered, has no sucky lasers, is unique and exciting to use and deserves the FMP40 name ! Also i know you have the coding skills to accomplish all this.

The only question is now, which key trigger the Schulterstütze ?
The weapon-cock key ? Or does the weapon don't go in sights with secondary fire ? So we could use secondary fire.

G - Gewehr - Rifle

So its the Fallschirmjäger set, the "ge" is part and beginning of the word Gewehr

You'd better do that with a seperate mutator enabling cover and all that GTA4 stuff. I think meowcat works on something like this for his Yarm mod. Integrating that into the gun itself would be far too complicated and also overpowered, as you can camp forever behing a crate or rock...



I like the idea of a flashlight, but I really think this thing from your link is too bulky and wouldn't be able to "flash" someone, besides it would not fit the theme of the FMP40 as a historical weapon if it has a "flash" funtion. I'd rather go for using a seperate flashlight for one of the pistols, so that it looks and plays just like in the criminal movies, where the investigators combine it like that. ^^

Thats an excellent idea. As special you could throw the flashlight and it would have the same effect as the charged capacitor of junkwar. Because you need at least one benefit beside the flashlight itself, else the flashlight would be useless for competitive gameplay. If you have a long flashlight, you could use it as melee-weapon as well.

But what do we have for the FMP40 now to make it fitting among the other ballistic weapons ? In point of historical correctness, the Wilson DB has also a laserdot, so a little bit of the fancy stuff would fit good or wouldn't it ?

Aahhh! You guys are suggesting things that don't fit at all in BW!

First off, while being able to aim a gun around corners may be cool, why would this gun be able to do it but no others? There isn't any special property to it that makes it more feasible than the next gun, so you'll just end up with inconsistencies more than any thing.

Likewise with the separate hand held flashlight.



PUMA will most likely be firing laser bullets, which is just a fancy way of saying it still shoots bullets, only there are different sounds and effects involved. It still cycles rounds and ejects shells, but it will have energy weapon type effects happening.

While i understand that this indeed don't make much sense, why this

wont fit into BW ? I'm in the opposite opinion, it fits very well into BW. Much more then laser-bullets and energy modifications on nearly every weapon. Because, laser-bullets only differs in in the way how they look and in their damage, while those separate flashlight differs in game play (like the longhorn). And why only the FMP40 has it ? Because its a set, just like the MJ51 and its smoke grenade. But thats just how i see it !

Well that's the thing. The MJ51 smoke grenade fits on/in the MJ51, a hand held flashlight wouldn't really be the same. If its just a separate flashlight held in hand with the FMP40 while equipped, there is very little logic to it only being able to be held with the FMP40 and no other sidearm. If it had a special mounting lug (while still being detachable to be used on own), sure, then its a set, but otherwise you're just holding two different items as one weapon.

And laser bullets add variety. We have a lot of bullet based weapons, probably upwards of 60 if I had to guess, which is a lot of similar effects happening, making it hard to distinguish one gun from another at range.

Giving things different effects helps to add more variety to the weapon selection without having to make it perform any differently. Its about the same as adding different colored tracers to a gun, though it does give us a chance to make it behave differently vs. vehicles if we want.

EDIT: Hey, am I misreading your post about the flashlight? I thought you were talking about pulling the flashlight out with the FMP40 at the same time, but now I think maybe you meant holding that as a separate weapon that could be dual wielded. If thats the case, I take what I said back, I'd love to see that.

What if you re-skin a Knife with a FL and it could be dual wielded.
I know your hands are full, but its just a thought.

Heh, flashlight is something I could do in a day, its no big problem as far as the mesh and anims are concerned. But Sgt. Kelly has the final say in anything that gets implemented, and there is also coding and textures that take time. We got a fair amount more we need to get done first I think.
