There is a huge an awesome mod developed by three guys (of which I am very grateful of their work), and some guys from the community bringing us new packs for enjoy our beloved UT2004.

I talk about Ballistic Weapons and the Community Bonus Packs. All these mods bringing us a lot of features such gameplay, effects, options, gore, and... a lot of weapons of course!

Yes, I can say: Ballistic Weapons is the best weapons pack ever I seen in UT2004!

What can I say for our Unreal Tournament 99?

Well, I present to all my Runestorm community: Nali Weapons 3

Nali Weapons 3 is a huge weapons pack developed by a single guy aka "Feralidragon", it includes code, textures, effects, models, HUD, sounds, features, addons, gameplay, and a lot of awesome weapons of course!

This guy takes UT99 to the next weapons generation ever I seen in UT99 ( ) and you can check his work in the UT99.org forums:

I love this mod, I had the version 2 of his pack, I mostly love those overpowered nuclear guns and well some other original stuff. the updates are awesome.
I'm also still following the Food fight mod that is slowly developing but still advancing there

A kick ass mod, that uses Ballistic Weapons sounds (The Minigun and Flamethrower).

Hmmm... It can be a coincidence, or who knows if the comparison of both files is different, or it have slight variations.

I don't think these sounds files are the same. The minigun from Nali Weapons 2 have the same sounds than in Nali Weapons 3.

@Blade sword: Ah, the nuclear guns... like the scary effect of the UltimaProtos . And yes, Food fight also looks very well! A really cool and fresh weapons pack! No bullets, no plasma, no Laser, no rockets

Yeah all this, the nuclear weapons are just nasty and yeah I love weird / stupid weapon packs, I wish there is more silly stuff like more guns that shoots memes or the whatever

Good old UT99, still going strong with all them awesome mods, proof that a simple modable game is way more profitable for the developers and more lasting than even the best un-modable game...

I completely agree with you, in fact allowing modding, creates a strong community, and keep it alive.
When games doesn't have modding people will get bored fast.

A Nali is one of the native aliens on Na-Pali, the alien world you play through in Unreal 1, you really must play it!..

And Nali are non-hostile, they often guide you to secrets in the game even, but only if you are nice to them and don't scare them or let them get beaten up by Skaarj..

PS: They have 4 arms...

The nalis reminds a lot of Buddhists, they are pacifists and are able to teleport themselves.
it's possible to play them in unreal tournament 99 they have skin and voice.
And if you loved unreal 1 I suggest to play the mod operation napali, it's a great SP mod I completed it about 5 - 6 times

I noticed that the author of Nali Weapons 3 (Feralidragon) has been registered in these forums to ask permission regarding some elements used in Ballistic Weapons in his Nali Weapons 3 pack (and that also is present in Nali Weapons 2).

I would like say, I never doubted that this person always uses and cook their own items and elements for their mods. And as such, and I wrote here, perhaps the sounds of the XMV-850 and Vulcan weapons could be mere coincidence. The reality is that eventually these elements belong to Ballistic Weapons, without the knowledge of the existence of BW mod.

And without further, and knowing the good people and developers who are Runestorm, I hope this guys not find any problems, and allow and give you permission to use these elements in Nali Weapons 3 (which, by the way, were also used in Nali Weapons 2, and always, without knowing the existence of these items belonged to Ballistic Weapons).

Well, I wasn't aware there was a post about my pack here, perhaps this post is why someone actually noticed that (which is a good thing actually, if I had released it already it would be much worse, good thing it's still being finished).

As for what exactly I do and what I take from somewhere else, here's a summary:

- Code, models, animations, skins, overlays, HUD: all 100% mine, no exceptions to this;

- Sounds: I take them from the standard UT and Unreal games: UT1, UT2k4, UT3 and sometimes Unreal 2, then I either use them unmodified if they fit what I want them for, or I modify them and mix them up to cook up slightly different sounds or totally new sounds;

- Effects: Some of the textures I used for effects come from a standard UT game as well in the series (explosion sprites and "lights" (radial gradients, flashes and such)), then I modify them slightly or heavily depending on the end result I want.
The rest it's my own photoshop work (for example, lightning effects, beams, trails, etc), vertex meshes built specifically to act like effects, etc, etc, etc


However, recently someone brought to my attention that I have been using a few assets from BW as well, and then I got it confirmed myself.
Those assets were a few weapon sounds (namely the ones used in Vulcan, Flametracker, and potentially 2 or 3 more), and 2 textures (at least from what I crosschecked so far: a muzzle flash and a decal, used with the Vulcan and WRE weapons), but I used them so far since I was really convinced they were from the original UT2k4 rather than from another mod.

I don't know exactly how I could commit such mistake (it has been over 3 years since I used them for the first time, and I was still a noob in UEngine 1, let alone UEngine 2, but still very odd...), but fact is yeah, the sounds that seem like BW, are from BW indeed.

As of now, I am waiting the actual devs who were the ones that put effort in those assets to either give me permission to keep using just those few or not, but either way, it was not my original intention at all, otherwise I would have been contacted them before.

Of course I am crediting you guys for those few bits , they are your work, not mine (even if some of them I edited, the hard fact is that they were yours to start with and it's your time invested on them).


Yes, my objective never was to use any of it to begin with, so I won't use anything more either in any update or new mods, I will be extra careful from now on.
I try to respect as much as possible other developer's work (being a developer myself, both as a hobby and in RL in web technologies, I understand the amount of work put sometimes even in the smallest things), and in the rare occasions I use something external (external to my own stuff and standard UT stuff), I try to contact the developers first, if they give permission, I use it, if not, I don't even ask why nor try to convince him/her, I simply don't use and seek something else or I try to do it myself.
