Ever considered adding a scope to the R9 Ranger Rifle? (like a reverse R98)

The R9 with a scope IS the R98. It's the same gun, just... hard mode.

I think you are mixing your names up breathias. The R9 Ranger Rifle is a ten round semi auto rifle.

The ones I like:

Top row, left to right: 3 & 4.
Second row, left to right: 2 & 4.
Third row, left to right: 1, 2 & 4.
Bottom row, left to right: 2 & 3.

Really nice camo versions on this one and BW/Sgt Kelly's weapon pack are currently missing snow camo's in my opinion, so at least one snow camo would make me a happy boy.

I like the olive one (7) the best.

Needs blue camo IMO.

Looks like Artic camo and splitter camo are way in the lead with Tiger stripe and america not too far behind.

At this rate, the guns will be set up in this fashion:
Scoped variant:
- Default Black
- Default Olive
- Splitter Camo [2]

Holographic variant:
- Default Tan
- Arctic Camo [3]
- Tiger Camo [12]

oh, you're right. I was thinking of the R78 and it's non-scope equiv. I'm fond of the R9 also, but I can't hit squat with it.

I don't like this idea with different camo versions, but they look interesting.

Well, they're going to be two seperate guns, but... any reason why not? They'll be the same, just different cosmetically for a little flavor is all.

We feel that being randomly given either a scope or a holosight would be too much of a change for something random.

The two varients will probably be more geared to work better as a sharp shooter rifle or assault rifle based on optics.

I dunno, IIRC that "scope" is actually just a low magnification red dot sight on the real F2000 so there's not that much of a difference between that and the holosight. I'd rather have a single weapon with the scope variances integrated into the camos instead of clogging up the weapon list even more.

I prefer having them be 2 separate weapons, but Herr General is right, both sights serve the same tactical purpose.

If they are going to be two separate weapons then I expect some notable differences between them, so that their purposes/roles are not identical.

If the difference between the two variations are going to be more aesthetic than functional, affording only slight differences in stats then I say merge them together.

Otherwise if they have big differences like different fire/alt-fire abilities then make them separate weapons

Huh. Makes sense. If they're basically the same then, no reason to have two guns. Though I like the flavor of change with the gun, myself. Even if it all is the same, it's neater to have 6 different kinds to pick up rather than one.

Well obviously we wouldn't make them identical if we split them up, I think the current plan is possibly to limit one to burst fire only and possibly give one a specialized ammo or something.

Do you guys have any particular requests you'd like to see for one of the F2000s if we do split them?

Perhaps if you made it so the Holo-Sight version can only fire semi-auto or burst (no full-auto), and have the silencer give it a lessened penalty compared to the standard version...

Then you'd have something somewhat analogous to the M30/M50.

Btw, is the Standard F2000 going to be a "normal weapon", or is it going to have any esoteric touches?

I could be wrong, but I think it will be more or less standard with a slim chance of a more mundane special ammo like penetrator rounds or similar if needed. I am not 100% sure on this though.

If their are multiple identical weapons with just different paint jobs, wont that be a problum with carrying identical weapons (No loadout) Or did I miss that it would be Dual weldable.

They wouldn't be identical. The plan is to just make two different weapons based on the F2000, one would have the scope, the other would have the holographic sights, and each would have different traits that help to make each unique.

The traits could be as minute as a longer raise time and worse hip accuracy to one using heavy hitting 10mm rounds or something. Throw some ideas our way!

The obvious thing to do is to make the scoped version more of a heavier hitting rifle, say with a shorter 7.68 clip while the reflex sight version is more of a lighter carbine with a larger 5.56 clip

But the problem with that is that we have that already. Unless the F2000 is replacing any existing prototypes I would like to see something different like...oh, I don't know...homing bullets? Explosive tip bullets? Adjustable RPM? As far as basic bullet shooters go, what has not been done?

This is why you usually don't see me designing many of the assault rifles.

The FM2000 uses 5.56 NATO which is good for about 600 yds, decent optics would be useful.
10mm pistol round would be downgrading, 10mm rifle round would be a huge round.

Adjustable RPM sounds nice. I still think the Holo-sight variant should be the longer ranged one,
since the "scope" you mention, Yokelassence3, is more of a red dot sight.

But if you're willing to break away from the "standard" part of "standard variant", perhaps you could make the MARS sight zoom variable in addition to an adjustable RPM.
Keeping the fire rate high and zoom low at close range, and the opposite when sniping.

There are other stuff we can add to the scope, like night vision, thermal (like in the Rail-Gun),
EEV (like in Splinter Cell, highlights electric equipment, like C4 or cameras), etc...

The EGLM would be a nice difference (though I don't like it), but someone would have to model it first.
