The Radeon 9800 Pro is pretty good, I used one for a while. But the newer games are starting to challenge it. I suggest uprgrading to something higher soon.

Soo... I'm still not sure how the Radeons comapre with the geForces... How do those differnet series numbers compare?

The 9800 Pro is not a very good card by today's standards.

I'm not sure either DC, but I can say that the Geforce 7900/7950 GX2 are nVidia's fastest while ATi X1900/1950 XTX are ATi's.

Also, if you like to push your cards, try ATI, their cards generally run better under pressure. Though Nvidia often has slightly more powerful versions. Look at the benchmarks of the cards to see what I mean.

Yeah, definitely go ATi if you like AA/AF at high levels.

Nvidia is like american assault rifles. More nifty features, work a litle better, but break down under pressure.

ATI's stuff is more like Russian assault rifles. Can work great after being thrown in a mud pit, and works almost as well as the American ones in the first place.

Though that new quadriplex SLI super graphics box thing from Nvidia would be a chaingun.

I thought the AK was way more powerful (stopping power) than the M4 , though the Ak does have more recoil than the M4.

Well, a blue flashlight is pretty...

It gives dark areas a more scary feeling with the blue lighting when you use the flashlight.

It does have more stopping power. M4's have 5.56 mm, while aks have 7.76 or something like that. However, M4 rounds "tumble" much better in the enemy. That is, they mushroom out and tear up everything inside better.

Oh, and Aks are quite heavy, so I don't see how there would be much recoil.

Also, to add to the machinegun discussion: did anyone know that AK stands for "Avtomat Kalashnikova", or "Kalashnikov's Machinegun"? What I can never understand, though, is what's up with that M in front of American guns' names... "M-16", etc... Military?

Oh and, It's better to get hit by and AK round than and M4 round.
AK fires 7.62mm lead with a steel core... goes right through you.
M4 round travels faster and is copper jacketed lead. When it hits, it yaws and the bullet, along with its jacket gets torn apart. It's like a little explosion with pieces of lead and copper everywhere. Greater stopping power.
AK is intended to wound and leave the enemy alive (for a while) and waste resources of the enemy trying to keep the guy alive.
M4 is intended to deal with the problem right then and there.
I preferred the M4 to the AK in CS. AK seemed to miss alot and when the bullets hit they didn't do much. M4 was far more effective...

Ummm...so why do I kill more people with the Ak than with the M4 (especialy headshots) ??
just hold the AK properly you need to constantly adjust as you shoot, as it pulls up to the right...

BUT groves in a barrel, which the Ak does not have...but I think the M4 does...makes the bullet spin, which makes it tumble when it hits something, so in theroy will do more damage...

But at the end of the day, it depends on the person shooting

AKs are special because they are reliable, they don't jam as much as M4s.

That's why they are so famous
you can bury them in mud/dirt/water whatever, they will fire when you press the trigger, thus the reason they are used the most in gorrilla warefare (low maintenance needed).

But, my point was (@ Bjossi), it depends on the shooter, and what they are comfortable with and can use....people are different, thus the need for different weapons for different situations

The yaw/pitching of the bullet in flesh is caused by it shape. This causes an almighty shock effect. AK is much cleaner... Plus M4 velocity is higher. It has less range, but its max range is well above effective combat range...



Precisely! I guess I am just used to how the M4 goes in CS. I just don't like the "feel" of the AK in CS...
Also, that is an underlying principle in the balancing scheme we use for BW. Two guns may be practically the same if you put all the vars in a formula, so it realy can come down to people's style and how comfortable theya re with a certain weapon...
