UT2007 would be reaching the top of the mountain, until the next volcanic eruption in technology occurs.

I can't wait to get my hands on UT2007... of course, I'll need a major update before I'd even be able to install it, but still, I can't wait.

I think you could easily install it as long as you have a DVD drive.

Quake 4 doesn't look all that special, at least the textures don't, the lighting effects look gorgeous though.

Anyways, UT2007 will have better graphics in most ways afaik; much sharper textures, lightmaps/normal maps etc. rendered from a multi-million poly models and then put onto the low-poly ones in-game, etc. etc.

Actually, I only got a little less than 3 gigs left combined on my puny 40 gig hard drives. So, yeah, gonna need a bit of an update first.

No, you don't need an update, you need a new hard drive.
But yes, you need an update when it comes to hardware, at least I think you do, depends on your system.

i'm 3 years behind i think, then again i think when i bought my Dad bought my PC with the FX 5200 GPU, the 6800 was out, but i'm not sure.

if i could run ut2007 on ANY setting i'd be really surpirsed....... if it even makes it to mac.......

If you can't run UT2004 on higher than 200 FPS on max settings 1600 x 1200 with 16xAF and 4xAA; it means it is unlikely you'll run UT2007 at anything higher than low/medium. But of course you knew that already, UT2004 is a very low-end game nowdays, better comparisons would be Quake 4, if you run it on 50+ FPS on High or Ultra quality 1024 x 768 you should be fine on medium settings or even high settings in UT4.

Prey runs better than Quake 4 for me, with all graphics detail on as maximum as I can set them to; 4xAA/16xAF included.

I think you'd be able to run UT2004 on max settings with a computer cheaper than the game itself, it's below low-end nowdays. I get between 250 and 400 FPS with max settings, 4xAA/16xAF.

i get about 110fps playing ut2004 on max settings, when i play with bw on i get about 70-80

Both, I don't see any slowdowns when using BW. It jumps between ~250 and ~400 with or without it.

As long as it isn't slow i'm fine with anything.

I personally think less than 30 is annoying, and below 20 is barely playable. Thank god the lowest FPS I've gotten in any game so far is 40.
