Isn't that crazy, this guy has been able to create instant hit impact blood in UT2k4 with all that other stuff.

So RuneStorm, this is the future of 'Bloody Hell' it must be (for UT2k4 at least), you guys gotta try to add this, it'd be so frickin cool.

Well i find that the one coolest thing in games that I'm drawn to is the gore and blood as well as the gameplay and graphics and other stuff. And i just think adding some new gore features for BH like instant hit impact blood shots would be a great thing along with blood marks on objects when a guy gets hit, this would include gibs, now that makes a lot of blood, and that makes me happy.

It is very hard to make realistic looking blood with a limited engine like UE2.5.

Parallax mapping, bloom, HDR, normal maps, local maps; all these would greatly improve the visual quality of blood in their unique way, but guess what, UE2.5 doesn't use DX9 so that ain't an option.

That confuses me, why is there DX9b an option to install for UT2004?

I didn't get such an option with my copy, I got the option of installing DX 8.1.

On the other hand, was that maybe UT2003?

i should have been more clear..i should have said the texture is good but the actual painting needs work, the shade is a bit off

yeah, but its the premise of what can be added to Bloody hell. Yeah i'm betting it would be hard work. but it'd be an awesome result.

I think normal 2004 blood looks nicer, myself.

It is hard to make blood effects not look better than UT2004's default ones.

For God sakes, this coder guy was able to add as he said 'instant-hit impact-blood' which is freaking awesome, so literally like GoW any shot that hits home you SEE blood, so you know you hit them. That has to be my only gripe about all FPS except for Gears of War (CSS and the other source games come close), since i want to be able to see the blood fly from thy enemy.



Oh it can be done, just download anything from EvilEngine, that guy is like a God when it comes to coding, and and overall effects, he made the awesome blood for the HaloUT, which is nothing compared to what he's done with his U2 Skaarj pack. Trust me Bjossi, it can be done.

You misread my post, I was saying that the default UT2004's effects look so awful that it is hard to make worse effects.

So does anyone think RS should work on something like this for Bloody hell UT2k4? Cause it most likly won't be needed in UT2k7.

yes the thought and the coding are definately awesome, its good to see impact blood for sure...that was the one good thing about the old turok series...blood is always a good thing, maybe RS should go into talks with this guy see if they can get him to help out a bit

EvilEngine knows the Unreal engine very well, but I don't think he'd bother helping us.

Beh, he wouldn't need to help the RS guys, but being able to borrow some of the code would be nice, as I'm sure the textures/sounds could be made by SB.

I actually like Bloody Hell better than that in the picture. On top of that, it wouldn't be as cool to know that they had to get help from the outside just for one thing. I loved how this entire thing is done by themselves and by help of only beta-testers. And some thorough beta-testing at that!

Oh yeah, this instant hit impact blood stuff would definitely be cool! Improved gibs... even better! I wonder, will features like 'exploding heads / limbs' be included in the 2.0 release?

Oh and for the TC (and/or maybe BW 2K7) you absolutely got to have a feature that allows you to shoot off people's limbs without killing them. So if you blast off someone's leg(s), he can only crawl around (but still shoot his gun and stuff). If you shoot off his gun arm, he loses the weapon he's wielding, though he can still pick it up with his other hand. If he loses both arms, he's literally disarmed and can only run around looking for health pickups.

Of course this would work best with a customized form of BloodLoss, so that unless you heal yourself you'll bleed to death fairly quickly from these kinds of wounds. Something like BloodLoss should be integrated into BW anyway, certainly the 2K7 version.

And, on a related note portable med kits/guns and custom voice packs that include a lot of wounded screaming and swearing would also be nice.

I wouldn't expect too many additions to Bloody Hell in 2.0's release, as I think they are more focused on fixing bugs and adding features than working on cooler gore effects and stuff at this point.

Yeah i like bloody hell more than the pic, but this thread isn't about the fact that BH looks better than that blood its the fact that this guy (its either EE or some other guy 90% sure its another guy and not EE) was able to code instant-impact-blood-hits and those other blood/gore features into UT2k4 for HIS mod.

I'm sure if it was EE he wouldn't help, cause he's never around but the guy who runs that site is the guy who made it I'm sure of it, i didn't notice that before, so my bad, thought the mod was the Team Orbit mod.

All I'm trying to get with this thread, is that this would be a cool addition to BH, and i think its much needed, but it would look like how RS would want it too look like. Mostly I'm just stating that these things can be DONE in U2k4, and would be cool to have for BH and BW.

Yep. Its not a what looks better, its the fact that gore can be added and enhanced in ut2004, like UglyPants said.

It'd be awesome if RS could add this after 2.0, like for 2.1, and other gore enhancements, it'd be way to cool to have impact blood (the 3 species in the game would each have there own, you know you hit an alien he spills green, human red and robot purple) for Ut2k4 and even better would be having the blood leave texture marks on the walls, like CSS and that even before the guy is dead.

That would be prettycool to see, but I think it would be an update to Bloody Hell itself, assuming it can be packaged by itself.

The point is that they will be blood spaterring the wall behind someone from each bullet that hits the person. Add to that the feature of little puffs of blood popping up whenever the person is hit and you got a little more realism. And improved looks.

As for making it look better, well, thats more of SB's skill with making the blood textures look good (or DC if he's the one who did the blood effects before).

You didn't answer my question considering the point you gave is to improve the visual appearance of blood.

Realistically blood doesn't splatter on walls when you fire at someone, although that greatly depends on where the bullet hits.

You can't improve the looks in that case, it just depends on the texture quality, I guess.

But anyways, I am sure I was wrong about it being realistic, but you have to admit it was a nice feature in Serious Sam.

I can't remember blood splatting on walls many times, I did like the floor splatters though.
