Is yours a 5 CD copy or a 1 DVD copy? Mines DVD!

I have 7 install discs and 3 mod discs

The game only comes with 6 CDs or 1 DVD in the box...

I have the Editors Choice edition. Does scanning cd's ruin them?

Why are you planning on scanning them? I'm pretty sure scanning a CD would be the best thing to do.

well don't until at least you've installed it.

...shouldnt do any harm to it, its just like taking a picture and hes going to be scanning the picture side not the laser reader side, so as long as he doesnt scratch it, it'll be fine

either way the ECE edition comes in either a 7 CD set or a 2 DVD set, and then the ECE and mega bonus pack edition is on 1 DVD

on topic...the bloom mod is ok...but as mentioned buggy

the mega bonus pack sucked. It contained barely any new maps! and 1 of them had a pretty big bug in it.

Hey one question. Every picture i've seen with the bloom on has that Bloom active and BloomX, words typed on the side in white, anyway to get rid of them?

HDR worked in CS;S, so it should work here..

i strongly reccommend everyone get hit with the taser with this mod on..

does anyone else get a funny looking frame around the edge of their screen with this?

Bloom is not HDR.
And if you run bloom and/or HDR with 8xAA on at max settings, you will owe DC a new computer, heh.

well Bloom is kinda like HDR, at least from my point of view.

Bloom and HDR are far away from being the same thing or even looking similar. They both make graphics look better, though.

yeah i guess they are different. HDR just makes anything that was bright before, well super bright, like the sun beating on metal. and bloom just make light sources stronger.

Bloom does more than that, it makes light-edges blur a little.

What's with the discussion of "Bloom support"? I thought that pretty much any video card with basic pixel shader support (Or at least shader model 2.0) could do bloom... [size=8px]unless most of you guys have really old comps...[/size]

The only thing I think would be problematic is if it were an HDR mod, and even that, only if it uses the newer HDR tech (FP16 buffer or something); Valve's HDR just uses pixel shaders (Which is why it works on more computers than normal HDR)

Also, IIRC, bloom only makes things shiny, or brighter (usually appearing somewhat blurry as well), or however you see it. HDR is just supposed to increase the accuracy of the lighting as to how it would appear in the real world (More accurate coloring, appropriate shining, etc), so it depends on how well the developer implements it... 'Course, i'm not exactly an expert on the subject myself, so...

Shiny is the blur look I was talking about, the bloom mod for Doom 3 makes metal actually look like metal for a change. And lighting casted on enemies will blur across the edges. It looks very good.

Also do you know of a way to extract doom 3 sounds and music?
Because those clips in the beginning where you hear the marines fighting and dieing are awesome
