I think having an Ice based weapon would be an interesting twist to the FPS shooter genre.

A weapon that can incapacitate lightly armoured enemies and hinder larger ones and vehicles.

For this I'm thinking of an Ice Missile Launcher.

Primary Fire would fire a large rocket with a blue-ish trail that travels at the speed of the current G5.
The blast would look more crystalline than the current explosions and damage any opponents in the radius. A direct hit will result in the target getting frozen for a second or two; enough for the player to follow up with another.

Secondary Fire would allow the player to charge up a missile and fire a more powerful version of primary with a large blast radius. The blast would move outward slowly, damaging and potentially freezing players who linger in it.

The weapons special function would be a suicide bomb, detonating the weapon and it's payload in a massive blast of pain and suffering.

Gameplay would be like this:
Player 1 picks up the Ice Missile Launcher and walks into an open area.
Player 2 comes in and starts to electrify Player 1 with the HVC.
Player 1 charges up a missile and freezes Player 2 and an advancing Player 3 before firing a secondary missile to shatter Player 2.
Player 1 runs away to reload the weapon.

I like it. I'd just love to see how opponents would shatter!

Maybe it could have a air-burst feature in it. Like you'd switch to the air-burst using the weapons fire mode key.

I guessed in my head that it was UT99 with some mod... considering the year at least.

While I made it look a bit like the Covenant Fuel Rod gun, it's supposed to be the Fusion Rocket Launcher from Red Faction.

That thing was awsome. It shot a massive star that obliterated half the map. Literally due to the fact that the game's walls were destroyable.

Isn't it going to be a problem firing ice missiles? What about a crystal launcher? Pretty similar looking but a lot more dense.

Well, it wouldn't really be a missle made of ice. Just a rocket with a super-cooled payload.

Something like liquid nitrogen or Poly-Fracticide, for example.

Yep, a whole lot better than the disaster called the C.U.T.T.E.R from ChaosUT2.

Any chance we'll see it soon? I'd hate to wait until 2007 comes out mid-summer/fall for new weapons.
