Seconded. Though I think a full-auto shotgun is a bit much. Semi-auto would be more to my tastes.

How is full-auto different from semi-auto? Any gunhappiez that got the answer?

Full auto means you hold down the trigger and it keeps firing until it's empty. Semi-Auto is one shot per trigger pull, assuming there's enough time between trigger pulls for the next round to be chambered. Which there usually is.

So, really, you could simulate full-auto firing with a semi-auto. . .But I still like semi-only better in shotgun. Full-auto just seems excessive.

Full-auto shotguns are not useful though, too much recoil to be controllable.

There's only one on the market i know of, the Panzor Jackhammer, and the only reason it even works is that it has such a slow rate of fire (you could shoot faster with semi-auto), it is by and large a failure, no police or military force will touch it with a 10 foot pole, its only market is a limited civilian market, because it looks cool (and for the same reason its been in quite a few movies and games).

If RS made one realistically, nobody would care to use it, too unwieldy and uncontrollable, and if they made it unrealistically, so its actually a good weapon, it would ruin the game balance, nobody could stop a player wielding that thing in clouse quarters..

Semi would have the same gameplay balance issue, on a tight map, the player who gets his hands on that thing will be unstoppable!


They may be cool, but auto-shotguns have ruined every game i have ever seen them implimented in, so thats a very bad idea if you ask me.

And besides, what we really need is more assault/battle rifles, we have many pistols (4), smg's (3), shotguns (4), even LMG's (2) and sniper rifles (2), but only one assault rifle and one battle rifle, i'd like to see some more of thouse! they are afterall the backbone of any fighting force.

Auto shotgun on YouTube. Loading the drum mag takes forever, but it's worth it.

Anyways, I still want to see a semi-auto. Just give it a smallish magazine size and a longish reload time.

What we need even more is brand new sci-fi weapons that don't fall into the cliché categories.
Pulse rifles, laser pistols, tri or even quad-barrel shotguns, semi-automatic rocket launchers.

Now that would be a whole lot more interesting than seeing the same boring modern weapons over and over again.

Uh, the Pancor Jackhammer failed in production because nobody bought the patents. That means that it was never put into production.

How the hell would people know how fast it fired if the only copies ever made were two prototypes.

And besides the fact that there is no market whatsoever due to there being no copies, it would not be sold to civillians. Civillians in most countries cannot be armed with automatic weapons.

Hell, the Special Purpose Assault Shotgun (SPAS) had to be renamed to the Sporting Purpose Assault Shotgun for civillians to be able to use one.

And lastly, Deus Ex had an assault shotgun that was perfectly balanced and was very fun to use.

Agreed. Deus Ex's autoshottie was a thing of beauty and perfectly balanced. Though I still prefer the sawed-off for it's one-hit-kill ability, since I almost always go with a stealth skill/aug build in DXMP.

Deus Ex was one of the best games I've ever played in my life. The singleplayer was amazing, and I loved the multiplayer to death, even though it was just added as an afterthought.

Do people still play DXMP online? I haven't tried it in a long time.

Kelly: I've read a small amount of Jackhammers where made, and did end up with collectors, but if it was really only 2, than that sure is not alot!
The rate of fire you can google for, lets try that.. some state 4 RPS, some say 2.

Sadly, Deus Ex passed me by, never did play it back when it was on the shelves, and haven't been fortunate enough to find it in any bargain bins later

Bjossi: Energy weapons, yes, more Skrith guns would be cool, perhabs some of the older human energy weapons that BW's story has in it (that bit about the Human/Skrith war starting with energy weapons not working on the skrith, so they reverted to old ballistics), but as for quad barreled shotguns.. whats the point? you are just making the gun heavier by using more steel for barrels and feeding mechanism, and most likely too heavy to be of any use, instead you could just change the ammo, maybe a 4 gauge elephant gun, or make it fire a huge Flechette round from a well recoil compensated gun, that would be interesting and well within what is possible and practical in real life too, a single large shell makes much more sense.

So far, all the BW weapons are practical, with the possible exception of the Skrith tech and the Rail gun (they assume tech that is not yet invented, but still, within a good sci-fi "it could probably be done" spirit), they are things that could be build and used in real life, and thats one of the things i really like about BW, its not over the top unrealism.

We'll have to disagree on semi-auto rocket launchers though, i just find them silly spammy weapons, give me a rifle any day over that, rockets are for blowing up armoured vehicals.

Definitely the FULL auto shotgun, I know some people aren't to happy with it, but you could always give it exessive recoil, or short range, making it great for close combat maps.

Goldeneye isn't even close to Deus Ex's gameplay style, however SS2 and DX are almost twins in that regard.

Aaaaaaaanyways, I kind of like the concept of an auto-shotgun; useless in the hands of beginners but can be pretty yummy for the experienced.

Hmm. . .SS2 was good, but I liked Dx better. the weapons were more balanced.

In SS2 nothing was worth using besides the pistol and assault rifle, and occasionally the shotgun and grenade launcher.

Of course, the same could be said for DX, as I've beaten the game with a riot baton and pepper spray.

My favorite games of all time include Perfect Dark, Metroid Prime, Ikaruga, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Donkey Kong Country 2, Meteos, and Timesplitters 3. I've sunken more hours into each of these games than most of the rest I've played combined. UT2004's starting to creep up there, though.

However, I say the greatest (there's a difference) game of all time is REZ. If you've played it, you know exactly why I say this, and if you haven't, I'm not even going to try to describe the experience. It's incredible.

On Topic: We already have a load of shotguns, and at least 3 SMGs (I think), but a full-auto shotgun is just too much fun to pass up. *votes for #1*

only heard of SS2 on this forum, never played.. heard good things about DX, but again never played..

anyway.. Auto-Shotgun... how would we balance that i wonder.. i'm sure we could try.. give it like 20 gauge ammo, severe recoil, etc..

i dont get this "we got too many of same" story.. i would really like to play a game (BW) which has like 50-60 weapons.. and has plenty of similar.. so you can choose a gun coz of how it looks, sounds, animates, recoils, etc etc! thats the reasoning behind a simple weapons pack.. its just soo cool to have an incredible choice of weapons on the flip-side, more skrith, cryon, explosives and stuff like that would definetly be good.. terran energy weapons, and things like that

In real life, there are currently hundreds of different weapons available out there right now, why should someone be limited to use just a (rather large ) handful of them?

More explosive, energy, Cryon and Skrith weapons sounds very cool.

The pistol and laser pistol do the trick for me in an emergency, 99% of the time I use the wrench or the crystal shard to kill enemies.
