One thing that worries me about the video is that they seem to have hired another deaf person to do the firing sounds.

Yeah, but i doubt that those will be the final sounds in it.

Why don't they just contract RS to do the sounds? The sounds would actually sound good then! Too bad for now, eh? That's what modding is for, right?

The RS sounds don't really sound powerful, but that is not a bad thing, very few games manage to do that. The only games that don't get a failing grade in that manner from me, are Quake 4 and HalfLife 2.

HalfLife 2 especially, has truly incredible audio quality. The pulse rifle, magnum, shotgun; those guns sound really mean when you fire them. Rapid firing the pulse rifle can make your ears bleed almost literally when you have good speaker system with a big sub.

The point here is, I don't blame Epic for making lame sound effects since it is expensive for a company. But I do blame them for not even trying to make the guns sound mean, what's the point in making a shooter when the guns don't sound like one?

no excuse for lame sounds effects.. i think ours sound pretty damn decent... making decent SFX is not expensive.. if i could do it for f**k all, then so can they

Don't confuse sound quality with sounds themselves, as I've said many times. Both you and UT3 nailed the quality part, but neither of you nailed the sound itself.

Though unlike UT3, you are improving them all the time. I for example was amazed by the improvement in the explosion sounds and the minigun, you have done fantastic job so far. If you want a recipe for the best explosion sound ever made, I can give you the formula to follow.

I kinda figured after the amount of people that are disgusted by UT2k3/2k4 sounds, they would try an improve them.. ah well..

Thats from the first real long Ut3 trailer, back when it was called Ut2k7,still shows the HUD though, which i guess is going back to UT.

Of course there will be a HUD in UT3, I don't know why anyone would doubt that.
