Mutadia XXI

Characteristics:

Size: 50000 mi. circumference.
Shape: Circle
Terrain: Lush rainforests with a lot of oil deposits, Icy fields full of uranium, and Grasslands full of mineral deposits.
Age: Unknown
Moons: Ratio I, Ratio XXII
Special features: Colorful if viewed from space. Solid rock ring surrounding planet (A lot of minerals there too.).
Inhabited by: Terrans (unknown races have also been sighted near mining sites).
Trades: Nothing.

Mutadia XXI is a planet notorius for its mining accidents with strange circumstances. It started off as a successful Terran mining site, but after 5 years of success, things began to go awry. The first accident happened on the moon Ratio I. 500 miners working in UMine-9002 died from a mysterious gas that appeared only in the time of the accident. Although it was confirmed that the gas killed them, they have been scalped and disemoboweled(sp?) at the time of discovery. No traces of anyone else were found. UMine-9002 was shut down for further investigation. The inspectors who went in never came out, although one did survive, but died from an unknown ailment as soon as he was rushed to the hospital.

The second accident occured during the Terran-Skrith War. In Mine-750, one of the key mines located in the center of the Lazia Forest in Mutadia XXI, a rock fell from the roof of the mine and crushed 25 miners. The rock had a very firm grip to the ceiling, and before the accident, even explosives didn't make the rock fall. This caused the Terrans to issue a new order to clear all unwanted debris in all mining sites.

After the Terran-Skrith war, space pirates landed on Mutadia XXI. The pirates threatened to blow up the headquarters of the mining company that was stationed on the planet. The pirates were easily killed by the guards in the headquarters, but a short moment after that, a message reported that all the miners in the Underwater Mine (a total of 200,000) have vanished.

Ever since that incident, all of the mines have been shut down, and it became a military base for the Terrans. Things were a lot better after it was changed into a military base. It became a vital research center for high-tech weaponry, and many of the resources that remained were used to create powerful gases to be used for combat. Now, Mutadia XXI is a safe and stable planet, unlike the devastating years during its time as a mining site.

I know I suck for a first try, I made up all the stuff on the spot.

So mining unleashes dangerous gasses and something strange wich might be liiving. And after mining shutted down, no accidents... lol cool idea.

About my planet, the second layer of air consists not only of water... but more like dense, other stuff... dunno what. But the idea is that that layer is so thick, no light can shine trough. Must be some sort of gas dense enough to block all light. Btw... there is not much other light source on the planet except for the sun, the lava pools and the lightstones.
The other two layers are normal, so light has no trouble with that.

Here's another one of my planets.

Xardion: A planet with horrible rains year round but it's a known Krao base which the buggers like the rain. the rain is compromised of 50% water, 50% Hydrazine poison which does not affect krao. During 2189, the krao decided to attack it's neighbor, Ferins which is a planet filled with Krassdh berries ( a common krao favorite) but was heavily protected by their sworn enemy, the Drahhs. After 10 days of war, the krao finally finished them off and took the berries for themselves. Not much is known about this planet, but the humans don't need to go there unless they attack them first.

but it is more logic that Earths name would be Terra,
as there would the name Terran be from.

Terran sounds more like a nickname than scientific. Plus there is no Terran in greek or roman god-roundup.

But what about the phrase ''Terra-firma''? Or as Bul said the Terran army name (not just here but across many gaming universes, for example BattleTech which references Earth as Terra)

Well maybe the Earth in the PA universes scientific name is Terra (which is the name of my Mom's dead cat oddly enough) instead of Bjossi's supposed Tellus.

I still think Tellus is pretty appropriate.

Alright, did a bit of looking up, it appears (as I have guessed) Terran derives from the Latin word terra, which does in fact mean earth, but Bjossi is right that Tellus is the scientific name for Earth as far as I can tell.

I'm not entirely sure who coined the term terran, or when, but as far as I can tell at this point it was used first in the 1959 novel Starship Troopers.

What is that brown ring that wraps itself around the planet?

You mean the funny green puff? Or the ring of gray? Sorry if the puff and ring look connected. They aren't. The puff is a gravity contained cask of deadly gas for experiments, and the rock ring is self-explanatory.

Has anyone read Xalidon?

A rock ring can't be created unless humans are involved.

Here's one i got

Devil City: a city that's chock full of skrith and has difficulties to cope with the Demen-ti-gru. the Demen-ti-gru is a tower that if anyone ventures inside, their brains would become caviar (eww...) during 2198, the UTC had explored the tower and ended up on the pavement via getting tossed off the 13th floor.

WOW this has been a while since I had an idea...

Mereeze: a planet that is really hot on one side while bitterly freezing on th other side. this is home to two deadly clans, The Firons, and the Freezons (not to be confused with cyrons, Freezons are the good guys, Cyrons aren't) the hot side is a barren wasteland that has a city in the middle which is home to the Firons, the frozen side is a giant mountain which is home to the Freezons. During 2281, The Cyrons threatened the Freezons to leave their home or perish but the Freezons had another idea in mind... Using D53 ice nailer (coming soon for a XWI) and only delayed the Cyrons assault not kill them. It was then the Firons who came to kill The Cyrons but left the Freezons a message, "we're not friends, Just allies..."
