So here's my idea:

429DX Versatile Rifle (Can be dualwielded)
Primary Fire: Regular Rifle shots (not good with bullet names and stuff like that)
Secondary: Scope (only when not dual-wielded)
Special Fire: Heatseeking mini-rocket.
Ammo Specs: clips of 45, Max bullets carried around is 135, or three extra magazines. 4 rockets can be stored in rifle.
Firing Modes: Single, Auto, Semi-Auto, Bursts of 3, Bursts of 6.
Inventor: Envarion Combay
History:
The 429DX was inspired by the SMGs and Assault Rifles out on the field already. Envarion Combat wished to merge the best of these two guns together, plus a little bit more. It is currently being used by many marines as a choice weapon, since it is light-weight, but still rips like the M50. The recoil wouldn't rip a soldiers arm off, so it can be dual-wielded by berserk soldiers. It also has mini-rockets that the infantry can use to take out infantry and light vehicles. However, the rifle can overheat if fired for too long, and will burn the wielder's hands if rockets are fired too rapidly. Envarion is looking at these problems to try and fix them. For now, soldiers using the 429DX will have to be careful not to spray too fast, or else they can be killed when distracted by the scorching sting.

Omni-Rifle would sound better...

Methinks Enravion Comb-Sol likes classic ballistics rather than futuristic ones.

I think "versatile" is ok. Its pretty much sounds like a very powerful SMG. I like the idea of an added heat seeking rocket launcher, to have such technology crammed into a small rifle is, well...versatile

Sgt. Kelly once posted the concept of an HSMG, could this be along the lines?

I have one question: Why would it overheat that badly? I can understand being burnt by a rocket going off from a gun this small, but not from just the rifle rounds.

Keep balance in mind folks. The SMGs are already murderous when dual-wielded.

Yokel, it is somewhere in the lines of an HSMG, but it has some capabilities of a tactical rifle. I made up of the overheat thing so it's a balance in my opinion, so that noobs will be prevented from doing a continuous spray and mow down a bunch of soldiers.

If you have a better balance, like maybe weight, then tell me.

Kabdoodles, it seems you only want to talk about balancing. Let the devs deal with balancing the gun, its there mod so they should be doing it, all we do is just think up concepts and crap. So moral of this post... STOP WITH THE WEAPON BALANCING SHIT!... Except for that one thread you made, keep it there.

Whatever balance issues we dont discuss will be handled by the dev's, yes that is true. However the devs really appreciate it when we discuss balance for them so that they dont have to.

Well as far as balancing goes I emagine that a small gun that fires big rifle rounds might have quite a kickback dont you think? If thats what you mean by "capabilites of a rifle"

In my opinion an HSMG would be a SMG that fires .50 rounds or 7.68mm, then you add the grenade launcher.

With that in mind, when dual wielding these thing it should be very hard to spam anyway.

Not terribly innacurate just a high recoil. Chaos would still be low.

Either way it should address spaminess, but its up to you.

Well I like Yokel's idea, but I don't know if the recoil you're talking about is like the arm-ripping amount. I intend to make the recoil low enough to be safe to be wielded with one hand.

Well being a full rifle, recoil would be a big issue, especially when one-handed.

A 45-round clip would also be too large, considering that this weapon would probably be more powerful than the 9mm Fifty-9. You'd obsolete the SMGs and rifles this way.

Overheating doesn't sound right with a rifle. That seems to fit in more with the full machine guns or the Minigun.

Please elaborate more on the mini-rockets. It sounds like a fun idea.

To the balance-haters out there: The balance thread is for improving the current state of Ballistic Weapons. We will not be discussing "future weapons there".

Also, don't you think the devs will consider your weapon more if you do more of the work for them? That way they'll only have to worry about the code, model, texture, and effects, not the balance.

I was actually trying to approximate the clip size of the famas, since I thought that it was 45, but now I figured out it was 25. I'll fix up the description.

To answer overheating, I've concluded that I should replace that with increased chaos when dual-wielded, but I have yet to decide what to do with the recoil.

I will add a little more detail to the mini-rockets.

So don't worry, I'll fix the weapon idea. I don't know what you mean by making the SMGs and Rifles obsolete.

But im not too worried.

Low chaos and recoil is what SMG's and machine pistols are all about. If this SMG has high firepower but sacrafices that stability then that should factor in well.

You would still want to flip to a fifty-9 just to get that stability back for more distant targets.

Yep. Listen to Yokel. Everyone has their own idea of balance. While it may be annoying to some, it is still someone else's opinion. If people can't speak their opinions, what kind of a forums would this be? A dead one.

So, just carry on and take balance discussions to an appropriate thread.

As creator of this weapon, I think increased chaos when Dual-wielded would do well. Decreased movement speed should make sense too. And recoil that accumulates the longer you spray sounds good.
