I dunno about you guys, but the Enravion Combat Knife's throw function has been bothering me for quite some time now... If I would have to state a reason, it would be about the Combat Knife's design. It looks bulky, plus it has ring drips to keep your hand from slipping... that would mean the only way to (realistically) throw the Combat Knife is to slip your fingers out of the ring grips before you throw it.

Now, what I propose is to have an entirely different Throwing Knife which would have its own unique features while the Combat Knife losses its throwing ability but gains a new feature...

Enravion Throwing Knife
Description: A knife that is specially-designed for throwing - sleek, lightweight, and aerodynamic. It doesn't fare too well when used as a melee weapon, though, so it must be used sparingly in close quarters combat.

Primary fire: Straight Throw
Throws the knife with the tip of its blade constantly forward, enabling it to cut through the air faster and fly straight until gravity kicks in. Hold to increase the power of the throw to let the knife fly farther.

Secondary fire: Curved Throw
Throws the knife spinning, giving it a curved flight and more airtime at the cost of slower velocity. Hold to increase the power of the throw to let the knife fly farther and give it a more definite curve.

Fire Mode: Switch Key Functions
The Fire Mode key switches the functions of the Primary and Secondary keys - just in case you don't wanna be bothered by using both in the heat of an intense fight.

Reload: Multi-throw
Stack the number of knives to be thrown. The maximum number is 5.

TAKE NOTE:
Knives can be shot in mid-air. Straight-thrown knives are harder to shoot down because of their speed while Curve-thrown ones are easier given their slower velocity, but they can be confusing since they don't fly straight.

Knives can also be picked up after thrown except if a knife hits a person. Also, some surfaces (like concrete and metal) keep the knives from penetrating and sticking - the knives will simply rebound off of them.

Special Fire: Slash
A simple slash motion to surprise would-be melee attackers and keep them at bay. Does modest damage.

And now for the Combat Knife tweak:

Almost all of its original functions remain intact (except for the throw function): Slash and Prepared Slash

The following are the new features:

Fire Mode: Switch Handling
Switches your knife-handling from normal mode and "icepick" mode. Icepick mode, as you might guess, lets you hold the knife like an icepick - this makes you do slower but heavier swings for dishing out more damage. This also enables you to hook onto your opponents more than the normal mode. A prepared slash while in icepick mode almost always guarantees instant death if you aim for the head.

Special Fire: Surprise Shot
Unleashes a .38 caliber Hollow-point round from the butt-end of the knife handle, dealing lethal damage to unsuspecting opponents. The entire handle of the knife serves as the barrel for the round. Since the Combat Knife is not a proper firearm, it can only be loaded with one round and it is extremely inaccurate, making it effective only at close to mid ranges. To be used only as a surprise and/or last-resort weapon.

Reload:
Reloads a fresh .38 Hollow-point round into the knife handle. Be wary that this process takes time: the handle must be manually opened and the empty cartridge must be removed first before a new round can be inserted.

Cool, the new knife reminds me of the apache knife.

My only gripe is that, ideally, a throwing knife shouldn't be big enough to hold a .50 shell in it's handle. That's way bigger - and heavier - than a throwing knife should be, speaking from experience.

I think he means the slashy slashy combat knife has the 50 cal, not the throwing knife

He wants the X3 to have the 50 cal, but the new knife to be a specific throwing knife, and not a dual purpose knife like the X3 is right now. I like the idea, but... I'll stick to my X3 for now anyways.

Ahh. Guess I should read these more carefully. Anyways, the way you describe it, it would probably shatter your wrist. A .50 round going off perpindicular to your wrist inside something with very little mass that is right inside your hand.

Bad idea.

Maybe a 9mm, but that'd be pretty pathetic as a single-shot weapon.

Well... there is the option of holding the knife with two hands while firing... just be careful of the recoil 'coz you might stab yourself accidentally.

Wow... after a few months of thinking, I decided to change the Combat Knife's ammo... Check it out if it's more reasonable than a .50 caliber.

I think a bullet hidden inside a knife is still a rather silly idea, no matter the caliber.

Considering that such a weapon would be necessarily inaccurate and constrained to short ranges, and that a .38 would do less damage than an RS8 shot, you're better off just running up to him and stabbing him.

I really don't think we really need a separate throwing knife. I know the X3 doesn't look like it would be suitable for throwing, but it's a game. The X3 is fine as it is.

Actually, scratch that. The X3 could use a good bit of improvement.

-Minor gripe, but the attack animations feel weak, especially the alt-fire. It looks like you're just poking a guy with it. We need some powerful uppercuts jamming the blade through the enemy's lower jaw and into his brain, or maybe a vicious horizontal slash at the jugular.
-Even the idle animation feels wrong, as all you see is one hand holding the knife, so your left hand is assumed to just be hanging limp to your side. Your left hand should be raised, as if preparing to grapple with an enemy or parry a blow. It doesn't have to actually do this, just look like it.
-Related to the previous comments, but its firing rate is too fast. It doesn't feel like I'm stabbing a guy. More like just waving the knife threateningly at him. "Rattling my saber", if you will.
-Knife throw should not ignore shields like the stabs do. Should also not be so easily spammed.

what type of ".38 caliber" are we talking here?
