Seeing as this is supposably the final release of BW as a UT2004 mod, I've a feeling you all are looking towards the future of BW as perhaps a TC? (Not fact, just what I'm assuming) I figured I may as well post a few ideas here, since, hell, why not, right? ;o Get it off my chest.


Grenade launcher. There's the standard type like from Quake 1, and there's ones that fire similarly to rocket launchers with a higher rate of fire and less splash and less overall damage. Like, say, the Brute Shot from Halo.

Nail gun or spear gun of some sort that totally pwns the crap out of dead corpses, nailing them all against the wall 'n shit... similar to that steak gun (or whatever it was) that was released a while back

Gravity gun. Chucking scorpions around and shit would be HILARIOUS. (SO ORIGINAL RITE?)

Maybe a long-range crossbow? ;o

A nail or spear gun seems like it would be rather impractical. I would love the idea of a spear as a melee weapon. Skrith plasma-halberd anyone?

Gravity gun already sort of exists as the Lightning Gun

Crossbow has sorta been covered, but as a compound bow instead of a crossbow. I would personally prefer a compound bow myself, especially coupled with some sweet animations. It would be pretty bad-ass, but rather useless unless you add some unique feature to the arrows, like poison or tazers for arrowheads (which would be freakin' sweet, actually).

A nail gun would be too awesome, especially if it has big and nasty nailes that get fired at high rate of fire and give these loud sounds. Like the Quake 4 nailgun, except not a chaingun-like functionality.

General concencus on grenade launchers points to the more AVP2 styled multi-type variant.

Were all hoping for a grenade launcher too.

A gravity gun is too much of a Half life icon. Thats like suggesting the flak cannon. But you could just think of a similar idea that has less to do with "grabbing items and tossing them" but still uses the idea of manipulating scenery. EG: Say perhaps a tractor beam?

A crossbow or compound bow is a good idea, either would be cool. See Storm X's latest XWI

A nail gun that pins people to walls would just be impractical from a "background" standpoint. Ammunition would just be too bulky, and you'd need a good amount of power to propel them at high speeds, which is compounded by a high rate of fire. Doesn't seem like something with a viable military use.

Unless it's some kind of converted mining tool. That would be pretty neat.

The fact that you can carry around a big-ass rail gun, a katana, a shotgun, four or five side-arms, a sledge hammer, a pipe wrench, and like fifteen trip mines is no less practical. ;o

But yeah a nailgun doesn't seem like anything the military would use honestly.

The mod already has a railgun and I don't see you complaining about lack of physics realism. A nailgun would be just as possible, except multiple times more fun.

how about a massive anti-tank rifle. sumthing like todays barrett .50 cal rifles or the .50 steyr hs

it could take out a tank in one shot and turn pple into a fine pink mist...now thts OWNAGE.

Good point, and to add, why have more than 1 shotgun? They all do the same thing. And don't get me started on all the pistols.

Yeah it's crazy how we only have one sniper rifle and like a million of everything else ;p But then again I suppose the railgun is a sniper variant, so it doesn't really bug me that much. Snipers are hard as hell to use too, so yeah.

But at least the pistols and shotguns have their variations while and anti-vehicle sniper rifle and a railgun is pretty much the UT2 lightning gun and the UT2 sniper rifle.

Quick idea to separate the two: The anti-vehicle sniper rifle fires explosive rounds.

Anti-vehicle sniper rifle is more like a category than a weapon, the railgun being in that category.
I'd love to see a sniper rifle that doesn't use EM kick to send the bullets flying, that change alone would separate the railgun from the typical sniper rifles. (though I can't say the above suggested sniper is a typical brand...)

Who doesn't like kabooms?

We're not exactly lacking in sniper weapons, now. We've got 4 of them right here:

R78A1 - Basic bolt-action sniper.
SRS900 - Full-auto Assault/Sniper hybrid. Silencer makes it especially good for sniping. Very easy to use.
R9 - Semi-auto, though lacking scope. A scope would make the R78 fully useless unless you decrease the damage.
M75 - Anti-everything sniper. Highly effective against all manner of targets, really. Pretty much obsoletes the R78.

He was talking about rifles that have a scope and fire very powerful shots, having pretty small clip size. Only 2 fit that description as far as I can tell.
