ServerPackages in UT2004.ini added (if playing MP)
Reload, Special, Dual Wield, other Keys bound in Controls

Installing Ballistic Weapons v2.5 Complete
Note to BW v2.0/2.1 users! Skip all the way to Uninstalling Ballistic Weapons if you want to do a fresh install of v2.5 instead of a dirty one. This is not a necessary step but recommended none the less. If you choose to skip this step, either by choice or you never installed BW before, then just read the next paragraph.

Simply extract the folders and files within BallisticV25_Complete.rar to your UT2004 folder. Make sure the archiver you use retains the same folder structure as in the archive, for example if you use WinZip you should have "Use Folder Names" checked in the extraction window.

Now if something goes wrong and the files do not go where they should, here is a short list of which folder is the home to which file type/extension:

\Animations = .ukx
\Maps = .ut2
\Music = .ogg
\Sounds = .uax
\StaticMeshes = .usx
\System = .ucl, .u, .int, .ini
\Textures = .utx

Note that this process will not add the mod to your ServerPackages. You will have to do that manually if you intend to run BW on a server.

To add Ballistic Weapons 2.5 to the Server Packages
First, open up your UT2004.ini file. This file is located in \UT2004\System. Find your way to the lines that read "ServerPackages=.......". Now just add the following lines below all the other ServerPackages (Add new ServerPackages lines, in other words, do not modify any of the currently existing ones!):

ServerPackages=BCoreV25
ServerPackages=BallisticV25
ServerPackages=BallisticVehiclesV25
ServerPackages=BEVehiclesV14
ServerPackages=JunkWarV25

Uninstalling Ballistic Weapons
In the BW v2.5 Complete archive you will find a batch file, Uninstall_BWv25Complete.bat. Make sure this file is in the root UT2004 folder. When you want to uninstall every single trace of BW data from your UT2004 game, just run this batch file and press Y to start. Contrary to what the file name suggests, this batch file will actually delete BW v2.0 and 2.1 related files as well. It is a convenient and quick way to clean up your UT2004 folder to start fresh with BW.

Warning: This process will delete all your BW related ini files! Back them up before uninstallation if you want to keep them for later use.

ive just updated to 3369 and installed bwv21,
but when i start up the game and set up a match the weapons are still all the same.
i have the new bw modes and mutators but not he guns...can ne 1 help me???

hey i need sum nhelp again....
i just copyd ut04 to my laptop and now it is telling me "you cd key is invalid you will need to re-install the game and enter you cd key to fix this problem" any way of fixing this without using the re-installing???

UT2k4 isn't in the registry. If you don't want to re-install, you'll have to export your UT2004 entry from your main computer and import it to your laptop.

IMPORTANT!: When I did this with my UT2004 install, I was transferring it from a Windows 2000 to Windows XP machine. I have no idea if it will work the same for Vista or whatever. Fooling with registry settings can be dangerous though if you mess something up. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!


To do this:

1. Run your registry editor on your main computer. Start menu -> Run -> Type in Regedit on the box and click ok.

2. Once it opens, Click "My Computer", open the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" folder, open "SOFTWARE", and find the "Unreal Technology" folder.

3. Right-click that folder, and choose "Export". Save it as UT2004 (it actually doesn't matter, but it helps you find it afterwards) wherever you want to save it.

4. Take this new file and transfer it to your laptop. Doesn't matter where.

5. Open regedit on your laptop. Click File -> Import. Choose the UT2004 file you exported from your main computer.

6. Make sure all of your new registry settings are correct. If you put your UT2004 folder in a different drive in your laptop than on your main, make sure to change your Folder settings.



It should work now. This is how I was able to take my UT2004 game to my laptop without my CDs. Disc 5 was broken.

id dl the umod of bw, but if i try to start it, just nothing happens. i tried double clicking, runmenue, open with...

I also got a big installation problem. I followed the installation description with the .zip files and first extracted Ballisticv200 into my ut 2004 folder and then BallisticV_21.zip into the Ballisticv200 folder inside the ut2004 folder and i can't find the mutators. What did i do wrong? So inside my ut2004 folder is a folder named Ballisticv200 and i just put the files from the patch zip inside there and let overwrite the previous files.
I came to Ballistic Weapons by asking someone on the kfmod Geisterbahnsever about nice ut2004 mods.
kfmod runs fine so my game must be up to date.
Do i have to extract the Ballisticv200 and then the BallisticV_21 files into ut2004 in the main directory into the seperate folders of ut2004?
I read that Ballistic Weapons is not a mod so i can't acces it from the ingame community mods menue like the kfmod but as i wrote above i cant find any new mutators...what are their names?
Operating system is winxp.

You must place the System, Textures, Animations, etc. folders into the UT2004 folder, to have them merge with the existing base System, Textures, Animations, etc. folders.

They do not go in a separate Folder of their own, since they are mutators and not a mod.

The new game types can be found in the Game Type menu, in thet unofficial game types section, and they have Ballistic as the first part of the game types' names.

As for the mutators, they Are called Ballistic Weapons, Ballistic Loadout, Ballistic Loadout Evolution, Ballistic Sprint, Ballistic Arena, Ballistic Melee, and Bloody Hell. There may be one or two I have forgotten as well.

Wow this is looking and playing great! Played a little against bots with Ballistic arena mutator.
Do you know some fine servers that you can recommend? I am from Austria/Europe (and even a bad ping would not keep me away!)
Are Ballistic servers marked somehow in the ingame serverbrowser?
p.s. to join a server i don't have to add something to my .ini is that right?
i hope i don't annoy you too much ut2004 noob me...

To join a specific server, go to the Favorites tab and right click, then click add Favorite. Enter the IP address of the server you want and its done.

Kaboodles would have to tell you what maps he runs, though you will automatically download them to your cache if you give it a bit of time, assuming you don't have them already.

I just thought some, like Sprayer, might like to know that I had the same problem. I installed everything as stated before and couldn't host a game without crashing. Later on I came across a thread somewhere in here that said you needed to install Junk Wars first. I had thought that it was included in BW, but infact Junk Wars has some core BW content that made the difference for me. So my install process went: Fresh UT2K4 install--> Update to latest patch--> Junk Wars--> BWV2.0--> BWV2.1. That should solve your problems.

Yes. The Junk War files included in BWv2.0 and the patch v2.1 are patches to Junk War, not full installs.

Thanks...and nice mutator btw. I've got a little ut2k4 server that me and some friends play on. It was getting a little lopsided with the skill levels and this turned the tide. We're back to having fun again.

Would you care to elaborate? Do you not see the BW game types and mutators, or do they show and the weapons don't?

Is your Copy of UT2004 updated fully to version 3399? Have you installed BWv2.0 before installing BWv2.1?

okay so sorry for the inconvinience but i do see the BW game types and mutotrs and when i got to play the weapons stay the same as before(no BW )
my copy is 3369 i think and i have trouble with these packages of level 2.0 and 2.1
i hear people say to go somewhere in the system folder to do something but i can't follow and get lost

I think you can modify it at the settings.

That means you did something wrong. Please tell us in detailed steps what you did.

I'm having a problem with the weapons overlay, I seen it in use on all Ballistic servers I connected too but I looked in the ballisticv25.ini files and in ut2004ini and in game in all edit and config options but can't seem to see any option or enable it.
I've tried with BW2.5 andf BWprov55 (I know this not from here but tested to see).

Does anyone know how I get it up?

I'm running a Freon Game using tam 3.141 and I add the Ballistic Loadout and Ballistic Sprint as Mut's.

I also seen on Ballistic servers it will have a menu u can bind ballistic binds and also save ballistic loadouts.

Please help.

Ok I did some testing, when I start a Ballistic Conflict game the weapons over is on the left like it should be and working correct, however when I start a TeamArena Master Freon game, then add the mutator ballistic loadout then the side menu overlay of weapons is no longer present. How should I get a freon freeze type game with the bw and side menu?
