If a Skrith was close enough to use a shotgun effectively, he'd probably be more likely to stab a guy than to gun him down.

I don't think they'll enjoy rotating blades either. A sadistic bunch like them would probably revel in applying the force themselves, not allowing a machine to do it for them.

Well, wherever BW appears next, it will certainly be diffirent.. very.. weapons will probably all change, there will probably be vehicles, characters, and tons of other features.. we have ideas, but they'll remain secret for now

I hope what already is in BW won't change too much, because you guys have put so much work into it. And right now it simply works, fixing what doesn't need to be fixed is a waste of time and can even have opposite results to what was intended.

Agreed; would be nice to see old graphically enchanted stuff in new BW.

Assuming BW gets ported to UT3, would you adapt the style of the weapons/etc. to be more suited to UT3's graphical style? An RS8 just wouldn't look right in the hands of one of UT3's character models, with their 3-inch thick power-armor. I mean, would their fingers even fit into the trigger guards?

What I'm getting at is, would BW3's weapons look more similar (chunkier) to UT3's weapons, or would they retain their similarity to real-world weapons?

This is something I've been wondering about. Will the next BW/Project Archon release include all the current weapons or will you have to drop some?

No way RS will make their weapons "Hi-tech" just to accomodate UT3's models... The models would just have to make do until RS creates the proper characters for Project Archon.

It's just something that's been bugging me about BW. It supposedly takes place around 2150, where humans are bringing back projectile weapons due to the Skrith's shielding. Sure, bullet weapons have been on a hiatus for a while, but why on earth do they look so similar to weapons of today? The M50 is an M4 carbine with a few aesthetic differences. The XK2 is basically a Heckler and Koch MP5. The Fifty-9 is an Uzi with a blade and fold-out stock. The XRS-10 is a .40 caliber Intratec DC-9/AB-10. The SRS-900 looks almost exactly like this custom M14.

Weapon designs would surely have advanced well into the 21st century. Why would Terran militaries choose these old 20th century designs when surely superior 21st century ones exist?

We can't be too sure of that now, can we? Besides, even the old WW2 designs have proven their worth in modern warfare and helped develop the staple armaments of today...

The current advancements to modern weapons are simply in the design department, IMO... Take the F2000 and TAVOR for example... Innovation? Well, there's the Bullpup design, the current trend in Assault Weapons nowadays... but what else is there that we haven't seen in other weapons yet?

I hope for the Skrith and Human cannons that Yoke and some other member thought up, amazing ideas and especially the Skrith one, would bring in the fact that yes their was previous war on a larger more massive scale rather than stealthy stabbing Skrith warriors.

What is wrong with having weapons that look similar to the ones today? Its good to have some realistic looking weapons along with the alien type weapons and the hi-tech(lightning gun, rail gun, flame thrower, some grenades). Sure in the future people will think weapons will be more energy based and sleek looking, but who cares really(just as long the weapon fits the gameplay)? I am sure RS has some ideas to make things flow, they just have to take the time to model, texture, animate, and code the new weapons and objects and that will take some time.

I am sure that RS is not tossing their old weapons out when they switch to a new engine. Its possible they might drop a few of the weapons that maybe do not fit to well, but im sure most of them will stay. All they have to do is modify them for the new engine, add more detail, add a higher res texture, add a better animaton, code it in and *BAM* you got yourself a BW3 weapon model.

Making BW weapons/characters fit UT3? No idea why they would do that. Remember, its their mod they can make it look how ever they wish and every thing will fit in one way or another. When they switch to a new engine, i am sure they are going for their own style/look.

BW wasn't Archon when we started, hence the current looking weapons

when we revamp all of them, then you should see a completely diffirent style, and i'm not talking chunky box-like UT weaponry.. it's gotta look cool!! We won't be making guns look like they do in UT3, just coz that how they are typically done

What do you mean by "revamp" the weapons? Will they still be the same weapons, but with a different style, or will most of the weapons be replaced/renamed altogether? Either way, I can't wait to see the results.

i think hes saying, hes going to spice the weapons up(make them look better, shoot better, etc).

I think BW should be ported onto a more realistic sort of engine. Maybe one with a good combat/gun system already. What I don't feel comfortable about is that if BW goes onto UE3, I'm afraid the weapon chaos will look pretty forced in. The UT series isn't known for realistic recoil and movement.

Perhaps BW would feel right at home in the Ghost Recon series. I've played Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (GRAW) and I know that it has a slow pace, using iron sights is critical, and strategy is required.

I would understand if some weapons had to be excluded so newer things come sooner but I would like to see the following return:

the lightning gun
the AM67
the fifty-9
the double shotgun
the revolver
the M50
the explosive device
the minigun
the SAR

As for community suggested ideas, please dont forget the UTC Shaped plasma cannon (Xavious) and the Tempest (Miracle Matter), I think they deserve an honourable mention.

The revamped adrenaline idea is also worth considering in my opinion.

Im not too worried about how current weapon designs will look in UT3, all you need to do is increase their bulk and mass threefold and they suit the players armour.

Also notice that almost everything in UT3 is very streamlined, if you avoid corners not many things will look out of place.
